A really cool and unique spot with amazing food! The vibe is awesome and chill. Already want to come back! The beef marrow is AMAZING. And the bbq chicken is not to be missed. Super cool hang out to eat and drink with friends! No reservations, but didn't have a problem walking in on a Tuesday night.
Finally got to try this place! The meat platter was great, I liked the pork jowl the best. I’d pass on the beef ribs next time though. The wings were also good, but $10 for only 4 is pretty expensive. I especially enjoyed the “Tiger’s milk Ceviche,” as I could really taste the Vietnamese flavours in this dish. The ambiance in this restaurant was pretty cool. I almost couldn’t find the restaurant because it looks like an older house. Overall the food is great, but definitely on the more expensive side.
For takeout, we got the So Fly! Rice, made with fried soft shell crab, ikura, tobiko, egg, broccoli stems, iceberg lettuce, pickled chilis, and scallions nuoc cham. It sounds like a lot of ingredients, but they go perfectly together, both in terms of flavour and texture. Don’t be deceived by the small takeout container, they pack a generous portion in there! And second, we got the Grill Platter, which came with lemongrass chicken, pork shoulder, luc lac beef short ribs, lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon, along with a sweet chilli sauce, and served atop broken white rice. It’s a bit pricey for the amount they give you, especially since they only give two pieces of lettuce for the wrap!, but still a great dish to order if you want a diversity in meats. Looking forward to trying the rest at the restaurant when indoor dining is open again!
Amazing food, amazing vibe, worth every penny. Definitely try the Marrow Beef, its unbelievable. The charred squid salad is also perfectly cooked and balanced. Softshell crab rice sounds great and tastes pretty good, but it really just winds up tasting like usual fried rice. So many things to try but highly recommend. Go at off peak hours tricky as they open later as it has limited seating and fills up fast.
Great food in a very unique setting. The restaurant is quite cozy but service is very attentive. Food was phenomenal.. one of the best I have tried. Drinks are equally as good. I especially enjoyed the bone marrow. Would come back and bring some friends here for some good food.
Amazing food, amazing service. Ernest, Simon and the rest of the coworkers made my best friend birthday a VERY special night. We couldn't be happier and more grateful. Mushroom Vermicelli is simply AMAZING, you gotta try it out. This is such a hidden gem
Being Vietnamese, it was so amazing to experience traditional foods with a modern twist. The outside of the restaurant was interesting since it does look like a house and not a restaurant but the inside was super cute! Not vietnamese inspired decor but it had a nice ambiance and I enjoyed the old school R&B hip-hop they were playing. The menu is small, consisted of maybe 10 items total but everything we got was delicious! We started off with Tiger's Milk Ceviche served with taro chips. This was so good and can be shared up to 3 people as a small appetizer. Next, we got the Marrow Beef to my surprise, was very different but so good as well! Imagine a sushi roll but instead of rice, there was brisket wrapped around a bunch of chopped up greens with the bone marrow infused with pho broth as sauce. We also got the Lucky Strip which was a cut up striploin with pho butter on a sizzling plate and again, the flavours were so lovely, it tasted like an elevated steak dish with a Vietnamese influence. Lastly, we got the Pho Beef Dip which was essentially pho in sandwich form and pho broth to dip. The brisket was so tender, it literally melted in my mouth. Out of all these dishes, the Lucky Strip or Pho Beef Dip was my favourite. We also got drinks but to be honest, you need to sip on these fast since they put a lot of ice so the drink ends up being watery if you take your time with it. Not that I wanted my drink to be stronger however, I didn't taste much alcohol in my drinks, instead it tasted like watered down flavoured water. The Mango Popper to my surprise was very spicy, which I loved! But the alcohol content and ice concentration was disappointing. Other than that, I had a really good time eating here but would probably come back to try the other things I didn't get to try!
Another one of those places serving extremely mediocre tasting food at a unique setting with small portions. I found none of the 7 dishes I tried to be anything special. The environment is unique, and the dishes were plated nicely. But it’s also super small and not the most comfortable. You can tell they put in effort but the taste of the food is like something you can easily find at a typical Asian restaurant. I was going to give it a 3 star but then the dessert really grossed me out. Sticky wings: complicated but delicious tastes of sweet, salty and sour, but the taste were only at the very surface of the wings. The majority of the wings have no taste. Clay pot eggplant: sour and a bit spicy. Like a sour version of the typical eggplant clay pot you can get at a Chinese restaurant. So Fly! Rice: it's pretty good but is it really any better than fry rice at a good Chinese restaurant? The fancy ingredients didn't really add much value to the fry rice. The amount of fish roe in it is so little that you won't be able to taste them at all. The soft shell crab was also not well blended with the rice. It's just on top of it. Marrow beef: apparently the bone marrow was torched into the beef. But I can't taste it at all. I even extracted the beef to eat it by itself and I still can't tell. But overall it tastes good. Not very special but not bad. Papaya salad: not bad. Chicken legs: just simple bbq chicken legs. We were told to wrap the chicken meat with radish and sauce but I find that adds no value to the taste of the chicken. The radish tastes like super market radish Purple yam smash: the yam tastes kind of gross, parts of it is salty and part of it has a bit of Chinese medicine taste to it. The ice cream by itself is okay.
Really like the food there. The ceviche / fried rice / chicken leg is really good. A bit disappointed at marrow beef, was expecting bone marrow. Was unfortunate that they added bear nut in the dessert, knowingly that my friend is allergic to peanuts. That's why is 4 stars for me. Otherwise just food is a 5 stars.
Food here is delicious, we had the mango papaya salad with the grilled octopus and pho beef dip sandwich. The sandwich was smaller than what I expected but was delicious nonetheless!
