Our facebook page is place where we can communicate at any time with our customers. We can & will answer questions to any problems that you have..whether it be a question about an aquarium, reptile, small animal... We are family oriented & our page reflects this. Been going to phils for over 14 yrs and get everything from them. Phil and Jules are friendly,approachable and knowledgeable. Always take a long tour around the shop every time I'm in there to get feeders. They always seem to have somthing new or a tarauntula I really want. It's a very family friendly place and my daughter would live there if she could.

I bought my first snake here about a year ago with no issues to this day, I've also bought a frog with no issues, very friendly owners, lots of good items, I live in Whitby and have no problem making the drive here, my cousin and I will spend a hour just looking at everything, definitely recommend this pet shop!

I bought two female pet rats from Phil's pet store. Not even two weeks later one of the rats started showing signs of being sick, at first she would just lay in the same spot, breathing hard and did not want to play, she stopped eating/drinking her breathing was getting worse, and her heart was beating a lot faster than normal. The next day before I called every vet and mobile vet in lindsay and only one even takes a look at rats and they were fully booked. I was told to call Cavan Hills Vet, so i did. I called Phil's Pets to see if maybe they could offer some assistance or advice on anything that would help my poor rat and a guy answered the phone, I told him what all happened, he showed no compassion whatsoever, didn't apologize, gave me no information on what to do or what other vet or any option that might help, he only said "She might of caught a cold somewhere." And it was said like I was the one to blame. I took my rat there that day and they immediately put her on oxygen, and asked to do x rays to make sure she didn't have a heart condition, and I said of course. What they found was that she had severe pneumonia and they showed me the x ray of her lungs and they were pure white, they said her lungs were filled with liquid, I explained and asked how this could of happened and she said it was more than likely she had it when she was sold to me. When I bought them there were no warning signs about respitory Illnesses in rats and I wasn't told by the sales lady that this could happen. The vet said she probably wouldn't live and said they would like to hospitalize her but there is a big chance she wouldn't make it anyways or I could be sent home with two antibiotics to give her and treat her at home, I chose that option bc unfortunately I was already pushing what little money I had and couldn't afford to hospitalize her on a maybe chance. So I took her home. I spent $172 at the vets. I gave her the medication as directed,  force fed her and gave her water. It was a Tuesday I took her to be vets the Thursday at 1am she wanted out of her cage to be cuddled and she had no body temperature, so i wrapped her in my blanket with me and she started gasping for air, and making clicking noises. She died a couple minutes later on my lap. I'm so angry at them for this, they are selling pets they should of had them examined. You might say it's only a $7 rat but she was sold as a pet, she wasn't a feeder rat either! And when I called they should of showed more compassion and gave me some info. It's not about the money to me, this poor little girl was robbed out of a good life cause they could care less about the lives of the pet rats they sell. I would rather pay more for a pet knowing they were vet examined. I have no words, I'm heartbroken, disappointed and disgusted,They don't care about the animals they care about money as evidenced by the phone call I made. I will never buy from them store again.

Unfortunately, they let their hamsters breed like crazy in their tanks. Don't purchase them, you could end up with a pregnant hamster.
