I took my dog to the PetSmart in Leaside for grooming, and the groomer, Coleen, was responsible for his cut. We provided a photo of his previous haircut to show how we wanted him to look. Everything seemed fine when we left, but when we picked him up, the haircut was a complete mess—absolutely awful. To make matters worse, Coleen was incredibly rude. She told us that we could bring our dog back to PetSmart location for grooming but implied that he wasn’t behaving well, which supposedly made it unsafe to have him back. On top of that, she wanted to charge us an extra fee for his behavior. I was furious because our dog is 7 years old and has been to groomers since he was a puppy—he’s never had an issue before. Coleen’s unprofessional attitude and behavior were completely unacceptable. I had to escalate the matter to her manager, who, thankfully, was understanding and kind. I strongly do not recommend Coleen as a groomer at this location. She may be the only rude groomer here, but I can't speak for the others. Please take my experience into account before deciding to bring your pet to this location.
Colleen is a lovely woman and a fantastic dog groomer! I’ve been taking my dog, Madeleine, to see her since her first puppy cut, and I’ve never had any complaints. Sure, Madeleine might shake and be scared going in, but I don’t think that has anything to do with any mistreatment. Rather, it seems all dogs are nervous going to any groomer!nnColleen is highly professional and follows the rules. She always checks your dog for matting, which is extra work and comes with an added cost. If you’re not clipping your dog’s nails, cleaning their ears, or de-matting them at home, the groomer will charge extra for those services. A dog wash and cut doesn’t include these extras, which is common sense.nnIn terms of dogs with behavioural issues, as mentioned, Colleen is highly trained, experienced, and professional. She will assess the situation for risk, which is to be expected. If your dog is anxious and behavioural, the groomer will assess it and determine if they can proceed safely.nnI’ve never had behavioural issues with my dog because I took Maddie to puppy, intermediate, and advanced training at Petsmart. I continue to apply what we learned in that training, so she’s very well-behaved.nnThis weekend, we had Cecilia, who is also lovely. We were very happy with the groom over the weekend and had no complaints. We recently switched to Cecilia at Colleen’s request due to scheduling issues, but we would go back to Colleen in a heartbeat and are also happy to stay with Cecilia.nnOverall, PetSmart is fairly reliable, and the grooming services are top-notch. I would recommend it to other pet owners.
I had such a great experience with Sonia at PetSmart this past Saturday! She did an amazing job grooming my dog Milo — he looked and felt so happy afterward. Sonia is Colombian, so it was so easy to communicate with her, and I could tell right away how much she genuinely cared for Milo. He loved her! Thank you, Sonia, for being so kind and professional. We’ll definitely be coming back to see you!nnThe only suggestion I have for PetSmart is to avoid booking 2–3 dogs at the same time for one groomer. It’s not fair to the dogs who have to wait, the groomers who get stressed, or the pet parents who end up waiting over four hours. The whole point of booking an appointment is to have that time dedicated just for your dog. I truly believe it’s better to charge a little extra and give quality care, allowing the groomer to focus on one dog at a time, rather than keeping lower prices but double-booking appointments.
I bring both of my working line German Shepherds here for grooming and my expectations are always completely exceeded because of how skilled Sara and Rehanna are! My pups smell beautiful, their nails trimmed perfectly and they leave happy. Sara and Rehanna are incredible at what they do and I am so grateful for them!
I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience at this PetSmart location many months ago in 2024.nnWe went in to buy cat food for our pet and had a great interaction with one of the associates who was friendly, helpful, and even mentioned that the case we were buying was currently on sale. She went out of her way to assist us, and we genuinely appreciated her positive attitude.nnUnfortunately, the experience took a turn at the checkout. There was only one cashier working, and she seemed quite grumpy—not just towards us, but also to several male customers in line, and even one female customer. When it was our turn, the cashier scanned the item and charged us full price. We politely mentioned that it was on sale, and her response was rude and accusatory. She asked if we were “pulling a fast one” and said she didn’t believe us. It was completely unnecessary and left us feeling disrespected.nnMy wife noticed how the cashier was directing the attitude mostly toward me and stepped in to defend me. At that point, we decided not to push further. We returned the item and left to shop elsewhere.nnIt’s frustrating because customers come in expecting at least basic courtesy, especially in retail where staff represent the face of the business. If someone doesn’t want to be in that role or take pride in their job, they should consider a different line of work. No one deserves to be treated with attitude while trying to shop.nnI hope management at this location addresses this and puts more focus on supporting staff with proper training and expectations. Good customer service makes all the difference.
