Petco Animal Supplies

I love this Petco. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because Pets Are People Too is a better option for many things, and also locally owned! That said, this Petco has an advantage over some other's in that it is right near a vet med school, and several staff are veterinary students. That's super helpful when you need advice.

Normally we have a very good experience here! Very helpful people work here!! However, this review is based on a recent purchase (and not our usual amazing experience with the store and staff). We spent around $5 for a container of what was supposed to be 36 crickets (vita-bugs). When we picked them off the shelf we could see a couple crickets through the side of the clear container and thought nothing of it, as in our experience most of the crickets hide in the egg carton-like structure in the container. When we got home and opened the container, there were only 2 crickets in it. Luckily, for our frog's sake, we have some worms for her to eat this week until we can get back to the store. The nearest pet store is around an hour away from where we live, so it is not easy to find time to get there. Just disappointing that these were not checked and taken off the shelf or heavily discounted.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Always find what we need. Amber is fantastic! She always greets us with a smile and a great attitude.

I am personally a big fan of our local Petco. the staff are quite friendly and helpful, their animals seem quite healthy and well taken care of, and they have all the fixins- full service grooming, excellent dog trainers, and coordinating with local shelters. Only issue is that they are chronically understaffed which i highly suspect is corporate's doing. usually not big on big box petstores, but these guys do a good job with what they've got.
