Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Stopped in today after we picked up my grandma in Markham and were on route to Whitby to drop my aunt off at her house. We wanted a lighter lunch- as we drove along I was reading out signs and then we reached this place. None of us had ever been here before so me and my aunt when in to check the menu. We were greeted by the hostess who immediately asked about the number in our group when I explained that we just wanted to look at the menu she gave us a menu and answered questions about it- she was very friendly and explained about this duo menu option. My aunt and I decided this was exactly what we were looking for so she went to call my mom and grandma in. We were seated at a both and our server (Melanie) can over to take our drink orders. My aunt was very impressed that she got a coffee pot for herself. So she didn’t have to keep asking for refills like at other places. My mom and I both decided to order off that duo menu the hostess was telling us about. My grandma and aunt ordered off the 55 menu. Server was very friendly. Prefect portion sizes and really good food. Hard to believe they just opened up in October- food was great and very fast service.

The taste of the food is nothing special. The prices are about on par with other similar establishments. Some items are priced well well others are over inflated. It all depends what you’re ordering from the menu. Their baked goods are extremely expensive. As far as customer service goes, the customer service is terrible. Our waitress was not attentive at all, screwed up the order and tried to rush us out of there before we were even finished eating. Then once the bill was presented at my table, about 30 minutes went by and the waitress still did not come by to receive the payment. I had to flag down another Waitress just to pay the bill. The restaurant was not even that busy at the time.

The service has always been good and the pictures of the food always look way more appetizing than the actual dish on your table. This is American style big plate food items but with slightly smaller portions. The pancakes are a no brainer here (fluffy, soft, light and even better with maple syrup). I still have a stronger affinity for Markham Station because at least they have better veggie options and their food has a bit more flavour...

Excellent food and service. Huge menu with everything from breakfast favorites like eggs and pancakes to soups, salads, sandwiches and more....PLUS lots of yummy treats for dessert! My only complaint is....I wish they were located in Whitby. ☺☺☺😊😊

On Saturday 3rd February, we decided to have breakfast and try somewhere new. Perkins was our choice and they were busy that morning, which is normal for places serving breakfast. We waited ten minutes to be seated and another fifteen minutes, before the server came over. After twenty minutes of waiting after our orders were taken, I asked how much longer it would be before our meals would be ready. Within five minutes our meals arrived and the beacon and hash browns were under cooked. Called over the server and she tried resolving the issue by bringingng another set of Beacon, but that too was over cooked boarding on burnt. By this time I was ready to leave, the manager came over but nothing he said could calm me down. There was no communication of the kitchen running behind when we entered or when we were seated, because we could have gone somewhere else. Clearly no quality checks are done before the food leaves the kitchen, wondering whether because it's busy or that's the norm. Left hungry and no sure if I will be back
