I visited Penticton Regional for the first time today. What a pleasant experience. Parking and access were well signed and easy access. Wayfinding both outside and inside the hospital was comprehensive. The volunteers provided meaningful, polite and cheerful guidance. The clinical staff that I interacted with were enthusiastic, well informed and polite. Lastly, the facility appears to be in a good state of repair and clean. I am impressed! I am new to the Okanagan and couldn’t be happier with healthcare delivery in this region.
**This rating is for my experience with emergency Dr.Stephan Samoyloff at Penticton regional hospital.nnI never leave ratings but I thought I should. I saw Dr. Stephan Samoyloff today. He was rude, dismissive and unhelpful. If you go into emergency in Penticton, hope that this doctor isn't assigned to you. If he is I would recommend asking for another doctor.nnI have already been diagnosed with a dental infection by another dr, 4 days later on antibiotics I feel worse. I went to see this doctor in emergency because I feel the infection is spreading. He said he doesn't know if it's bacterial or viral but refused to run tests. He said if it is bacterial, I'm the best antibiotic for it. I asked him to try a different antibiotic because I felt like this one isn't working and explained that I've had numerous dental infections over the last 2 years and have been prescribed this antibiotic before, and asked if it's possible that the bacteria has immunity to this antibiotic. He said it's not possible. Blatant lie. He said he believes I have a viral infection, even though I have a abscess in my mouth that has already been diagnosed by another more competent doctor. He was completely dismissive through our entire conversation. He asked questions and continued to cut me off multiple times and asked me to stop what I'm saying. I saw another comment on ratemds where he did the same thing to another person. It appears this is his usual manner. His bedside manner is awful. It doesn't seem like he wants to help anyone. I asked for blood test and he blatantly refused and then when I asked for another doctor he said I could re register. It wasn't busy in the hospital, and it wouldn't have taken much for him to request blood work. If I was in Vancouver I wouldn't have had to ask for blood work. They would have already taken it before I saw the doctor.nnWe may as well flush our tax dollars down the toilet rather than employ Dr.Samoyloff at our hospital. It didn't surprise me at all when I saw he had a 1 star rating on rateMDs.nnThere are some Dr's at Penticton regional hospital who are fantastic at their job because they want to help people, and then there are Dr's like Stephan Samoyloff, whom we are just a number to tick off and collect a cheque. Shame on him.
Major rave to PRH. I live in Peachland and on Friday broke my wrist. Rather than deal with bridge traffic I went to PRH. I got x-rayed, hand and wrist traction and a cast. The ER doctor felt the xray after casting needed an ortho consult. Got that Saturday and had surgery on Sunday. They have a surgeon who does hands and wrists. The entire staff and volunteers were awesome
We brought our one year old in today with signs of scarlet fever and the emergency department team was amazing. They were efficient, caring and skilled. Special thanks to Dr. Connelly and all of the nursing and lab staff.
Went in for some stitches. Everyone was really friendly! Also had a great conversation with the person waiting beside me.nn10 out of 10. Will visit again soon
