We read reviews and heard peoples feedback and decided to try out peaceful restaurant. The settings are sparse but the food really is legit. I recommend the beef roll, the Dan Dan noodles, the green beans and of course some soup dumplings and fried dumplings. The helpings are absolutely huge so bring a lot of people so you can try more things or be prepared to take home a lot. This was a really lovely place to try some of Vancouver’s legendary Chinese food before we went to Richmond to really get down on some delicious Chinese food.
Good food, large portions. Nice service. We took the soups and it was exactly what we needed. I ask to make mine a little less spicy and they were accommodating. Definitely would dine here again!
Very nice staff and a huge menu. Went with what Guy Fieri had eaten and didn’t go wrong. Peaceful beef rolls for sure are a hit. Nice large portions for sharing. Would come back for sure.
Good food. Noodles were yummy. I like the sweetness and savory taste of the beef rolls. Nothing really special with the northern dumpling. The fried pork dumplings was good as well. Sadly they're ice machine was broken when we visited and the drink were room temperature. I like having ice cold soda when I'm eating Chinese food. Restaurant was clean the server was little rude. Prices affordable but a little pricey compare to other chinese restaurants. All we enjoyed the food even if we didn't finished it. Surprisingly the serving looks big but it can fit in one take out bowl. The takeout container also cost $.25 cents. It was a first time experience for us paying for a take out container.
Enjoyed an excellent assortment of dishes at downtown Vancouver’s Seymour St. Peaceful Restaurant location late September. This restaurant was featured on the show Diners and Drive Ins by Guy Fieri. This is what made us chose this Chinese restaurant over others in the area. Wish we lived in Vancouver as I would be there weekly to eat. Food was that delicious! Restaurant was extremely clean and followed Covid protocols. Service was fast, efficient and accurate. Waters were brought out quickly without even asking which was appreciated as we were parched. A jug was put on our table so we could top up ourselves. Again appreciated as some of our dishes were spicy. It was a hard choice to make as many of the dishes appealed to us. We tried the Mandarin Wonton Soup D-15. A bowl fed three of us perfectly to start. We then had the Panfried Dumplings D-18, soft yet crisp with delicious juices oozing out as you took a bite. It came with 8 dumplings so plenty to sample for 3 of us. We then had the Sichuan Thousand Chilli Chicken C-1 and the Shanghai Stir-fried Noodles F-6. Both dishes were outstanding with presentation, quantity, tastes and quality! The chicken was in chunks lightly coated, juicy yet a bit of crunch. There were lots of chicken pieces as well as lots of crisp green beans accompanying it. Also tons of dried peppers which provided heat. When the noodle dish came we all thought we’d never finish it as it was heaping, however it was so flavourful that we devoured it! Our server checked in on us and even refilled our water jug without us having to ask. I highly recommend to check this place out. I know where I’ll be dining the next time I’m visiting Vancouver! Return visit May 2022, changed things up a bit. Finally tried the Beef Rolls that Guy Fieri raved about and he was spot on . Flavours and juiciness with every bite! Also tried the Kung pao chicken and mu-shu stir fried noodle dishes. Both were very tasty. Once again service was prompt and not a spec of food left! Deliciously yummy!
Ordered the Xiao-Long Bao, Beef Roll, and lunch special Sichuan Pork Belly and Cabbage. The bao was very good, just the right temperature to have as a one bite with the juice inside. The beef rolls didn't disappoint since the last time I've had them years ago. 2 good signature dishes but 1 fell flat. We were disappointed with the lunch special, the rice was rather hard and dry and felt like it could've been a day old. It would've helped if there was more topping/sauce to coat the rice, but there wasn't. Service was fine, we went in shortly after opening.
They have a pretty extensive menu. We had noodles, tofu and soup dumplings. The tofu was too spicy in case you are not used to it. The noodles were amazing just as the dumplings. Not the friendliest staff.
I came here wanting to try the lunch menu but it wasn't available Monday to Friday only. I asked for the Yu-Nan Rice Noodle Soup that was described would be served tableside, however that wasn't available as well. I ended up going for the Xiao-Long bong dumplings and sweet soy ribs. Was glad to have tried the XLB dumplings here, usually it can be a hit or miss when the dough is too thick or too thin that you lose the soup. The ribs were okay, they were a bit more vinegary than I anticipated. I couldn't finish my meal and asked for a takeaway container which was charged at $0.25. As for the service, it was at the bare minimum, there was one server who was particularly warmer than the other but at least it was efficient and quick. I appreciated seeing both the tables and chairs were wiped down after each guest. They have a hard close at 2:45pm for in-dining lunch, which turned a few customers away. Overall, I thought portion size and value was good for downtown, would come back again for the dumplings and other dishes.
The place is neat and clean, which I didn't expect. The food was ok. Not bad. Decent taste and the price.
Definitely a place to try! Strongly recommend dish is the Peaceful House Special noodle. The Sichaun Dan Dan noodle and the Xio long bao was just ok. The price is very reasonable especially for lunch. The service is good though they charge for a to go container but still all good.
