This is our second year using the clinic and Dr. Martin as our son’s pediatrician. We have been impressed with the seamless scheduling, thoroughness, and integrated systems within the PCHC network. It is evident that PCHC is focused on community health and fulfilling a critical need in the region that is not led my big-profit organizations.
We love Dr. Barrett, and followed her here. It's been a welcoming and a great transition for us, with absolutely no complaints. We expected a high level of care, and this practice does not disappoint. Thanks PCHC.
I recently had a horrific experience here, however, I ended up making a formal written complaint and my concerns were addressed within hours by a manager and within 48 hours by Dr. Martin, the medical director. I'm hopeful that she is true to her word in providing some staff training. One suggestion I have for PCHC is to have some type of written patient feedback form or email address as all they have are phone numbers I had an email for someone leftover from a previous interaction. Obviously with phone calls it's your word vs theirs and even though my complaint was in writing they were very careful and smart on their part not to reply to my email or provide any written response. I was told that my complaint would be "filed as a formal complaint" whatever that means. So while the appointment and exam for my child was terrible, the attempt to "do better" was pretty good.
Sick Child. Tried calling for 90 mins straight. Got busy tone every time. Was trying to cancel a Well Child appt and make a sick child appt. 7 hours after opening phones still only giving busy tone. Emailed PCHC from facebook and they apologized for phones being intermittently down that morning. It was almost 2pm and phones still weren't up. Tried to do online scheduling, didn't work. Tried 3 more times in 2 days. Still not working. Second day tried calling again, no more busy tone but now even though it's 40 minutes AFTER they opened no one is picking up and calls are going to answering service. Tried taking my child to their pediatric walk in care facility...get there and there is a sign on the door that walk in care is closed that day. I purposely checked their website and facebook before driving over and saw no such announcement. It was literally impossible to get this medical facility to provide medical care. I did everything but send smoke signals. Awful.
Looking at past reviews, and nothing has changed, the wait time is still unacceptable. The main reason for this review is to explain lack of importance when a doctor is needed. My son was in a terrible car accident and had a severe traumatic brain injury. After out of the hospital we needed to touch base with our primary. Our doctor wasn’t able to see him because she was booked on a Thursday and off on a Friday. The remedy was to see another doctor. When dealing with a brain injury having someone that knows you as a baseline is the main purpose. To have them schedule us with a doctor that has never met my son made zero sense. I drive one hour to get to the office and the entire visit is anywhere from 2-3 hours. I chose to switch providers if I had to start fresh anyways. That was about a month ago, tons of visits to my new provider and Penobscot still have not released my children’s records. I have called the records department. They put a rush on it. That was a week ago and only two children were transferred yesterday. Zero organization. Little care. Do better. These are our children.
Dr. Dana Goldsmith is by far the best children's Doctor hands down. I just wish that he could be my Doctor too!
I feel these people need to definitely work on their patient times! Every time I’ve gone there I wait over 2hrs even with an appointment I’m still going to wait at least 2 -2 1/2 hours. I feel like the doctors don’t always take my concerns with my children serious or listen to what I’m saying they just do what they want or feel, even though I’m the one who’s with my kids everyday all day. I also feel like they need to know there patience better & their charts so they don’t skip over things that needed to be done or should be being done. I used to love this office, when Dr. Millikan worked for them, he was the best doctor ever there! & he always listen to my concerns and checked my kids for my concerns and his, if there was any at that time and cared about my kids like his own or at least that’s how he made us feel and a huge reason we loved going there to them before but now I moved back and have new doctor there I feel it’s very different and not in a good way.
Unless I am seeing my sons normal dr the wait in the exam room is RIDICULOUS. I have a 2 year old who wants to get in to everything, sitting in the Exam room for 45 minutes waiting on a dr is not ideal. The people who schedule appts mess them up almost every time. I scheduled an appt for 9:30 and apparently the appointment was put in for 9 instead. Had I not been set up with the text notification I would have showed up at 9:30 and they would have not been able to get us in. If it wasn’t for Sydney we would have switched locations a long time ago.
Being a first time parent comes with its challenges. For example, being on time and having multiple questions. Our three visits were less than impressive. It's an average of 30-45 minute wait to be seen two 7am appointments and one 1pm appointment- waiting is understandable for late day appointments due to other patients needs. I would recommend establishing a text system so that parents can be texted 5-10 minutes prior to being seen. This will allow patients to remain in their vehicle until it's time to be evaluated. Who wants to be exposed to additional germs when it's not necessary??? The staff was rude and judgmental regarding our concerns and our parenting decisions. At one point, when my partner asked a few questions, we were told "I suggest you read a book" and then wrote the title down on our discharge paperwork. When you're a parent, especially a new parent, you expect to receive support from the medical professional you've selected. Yes, not everyone agrees on the various parenting styles but no matter the circumstance the experience should be respectful.
Every time we come it's the wait is unacceptable long. My daughter's appointment was at 10. Its 10:29 and we are still in the lobby. Many parents have to take time off from work to come. They finally saw us at 10:48. Many of the doctors are excellent but the wait is miserable
