Passport Office

It might be more fair to rate this office 4.5 stars but that's not possible here. Workers are generally friendly & polite. The guy sitting at the entrance basically greets you & tells you what line to take. I actually had to wait longer in a Canada Post line the day before so the wait was pretty reasonable. What they don't make clear is that you'll be waiting twice. The first line up is just to get to speak to a person who verifies that you have completed all documents. The next lineup is to actually submit documents & pay for your passport. That was a longer wait but there are plenty of chairs if you feel like sitting. Also, if you have someone with you or bored kids, the passport office is conveniently located next to the mall food court (also bathrooms nearby). Just outside the entrance to the passport office is a photography studio where you can get your passport photos done. I'm guessing it's extremely convenient if you've got a problem with the ones you brought with you. So … my minus 1 point is for having us stand in 2 lineups for a simple renewal when I could have shown the door guy that I had all of my documents completed etc.

The applications people are nice and at first I forgot to get one of my photos signed that's fine and he said that was it and I get it signed come back and a different girl at the counter gave me a number. I sat and waited for 40 minutes to have a rude lady at a counter to tell me I couldn't because I needed photo ID even though it doesn't state it on the form and the two employees earlier had looked over my forms and ID and said it was good to go.

The staff are very nice. A veteran will meet you at the door to help you get started. The people at the booths will answer all my questions, without hesitation and they were very knowledgeable. One staff member seemed like he knew the importance of the Canadian passport to a young immigrant family which was very sweet. I do recommend giving yourself 1 or 2 hours to have your passport renewed as there are a lot of people to process.

The staff was friendly and pleasant. We were in and done in 15 minutes. Perhaps we hit it at a good time (3pm) Best government service we have had!

workers were polite and professional. security guard knew where the closest washroom was. only downside was the wait. i showed up at 8:25 thinking i’d beat the line, but when i got there, the lineup was at least 20 people long. was out by 9:05. also multiple signs around the mall pointing to the office
