Nice and light atmosphere with lots of natural lighting. Our server was absolutely fantastic Caitlin but when we walked in we were greeted by 3 different people who all said “we will be right with you”. We started with the chicken noodle soup tasted like how your grandma would make with great flavour in every bite and cute little noddles. Unfortunately i did not get a photo. The Chicken club is good. The seasoning on the chicken is spot on and the grilling of the breast added another dimension of flavour. I think this sandwich could have been served with arugula or fried onions as the fresh ingredients seemed like they didn’t blend with the sandwich. The onion dip is flavourful and was a nice addition to the fries. The meatball sub has a nice balance of pork and beef meat with a zesty marinara sauce. It was hard to eat but the flavour is exactly what you would expect. The strawberry rhubarb crumble was delicious. The oatmeal was sweetened and the fruit mixture was sweet but not overpowering. The ice cream cuts the sweetness well for a well-balanced bite of dessert. Four stars because nothing was an absolute wow but I would definitely come back to try the other sandwich options.
3.5 stars truthfully. Saved my review until I had been a couple of times I’ve been 3 times with diff sandwiches/sides each time. Overall it’s a good sandwich place, I don’t think you’ll hate anything you get. Mushroom soup is also good; their dill soup is a little sour for me. However, at around $20 a sandwich I don’t know how you can justify charging New York prices for an Edmonton sandwich. As an aside, I walked by this place weekly as they were being constructed and I was hoping for better. The interior design is great don’t get me wrong but the Edmonton restaurant scene needs to start taking risks if we’re going to grow it. We can’t keep opening restaurants with easy to look at themes and calming tones. To the owners, take a risk on the next restaurant. I can name 6 restaurants that have a similar feel with this interior design in the city.
Love that we are having more local food around here. We got the meatball sub and patty melt with house soup! The patty could’ve used more seasoning it was a bit bland but overall good. Service wasn’t consistent we sat down prior to another pair they were immediately given water and a rundown on the menu. We had to wait 10 minutes before someone came to us and took our order, didn’t provide the same level of care to my partner and I compared to the first pair that sat after us.
Atmosphere was nice, new and refreshed. Location is cramped. I ordered the cubano. Sandwiches were good, not amazing for the price point. Soup was very good. It was a spicy pickle. Service was generally good.
Fantastic lunch at this new sandwich shop. The servers were all super nice and attentive even though it was quite busy. Food was amazing. Went with my parents who can both be quite fussy and they loved their food. Thanks, Pals!
I came here with a friend. I had the cubano sandwich with the fries, which was an all-around great sandwich. Bold flavours, i love mustard so this suited me, and the fries were the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The house soup spicy pepperoncini and dill pickle was delicious! Also- a strange and unique but important note- I couldn't finish this whole sandwich, so I took it home and ate it for lunch the next day. It's reheat potential was outstanding!!! it was honestly like having it fresh again. Would recommend their hot sandwiches 1000% if you feel like you can't finish them because they are GREAT leftover. Cant say enough about this place, will be going back for sure, loved it.
Had an absolutely amazing time at Pals! I ordered the Croque Monsieur with golden brown house hash, and Strawberry Aperol Spritz. The service and atmosphere were perfect, 5 stars!!!
Loved loved loved this place. New restaurant by the people that run Meat, Next Act and Pip, and like their other restaurants this place is another hit out of the park. The breakfast sandwich might be one if not the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. The egg was cooked perfect, the sausage was great and the sesame bun choice was spot on. If you don’t like sausage you can get bacon or avocado instead. The soup was amazing, potato dill, how can you go wrong? But then to add pepperoncini to give it a kick was a very smart choice. I absolutely loved it. The caesar was great, spiced perfectly and delicious. The garnish on the caesar was nice and not over the top like some places. I wouldn’t say this place is very kid friendly menu wise. That being said my kid 3 yo was perfectly happy with a plate of fries and an orange juice. Can’t wait to go back and try their other sandwiches, so many great looking sandwiches to choose from.
Had a to-go Veg Meatball Sub and it was the *best* vegetarian meatball sub I've ever had. The staff were great while I waited for my order. I will be thinking about this sandwich until I go back next time! Personally, I didn't find the sandwiches expensive if you think about how the cost of goods and labour costs have gone up. I didn't order a side and spent $14 on the sandwich. Totally reasonable and good value for such a delicious lunch. The only thing that I would note is that the restaurant seems to lack accessibility. The washrooms were downstairs and the tables seemed too high to accommodate someone in a wheelchair. As I didn't dine in, I can't offer a complete review of this.
I have to confess that I'm a fan of Pal's. I've been here THREE times in the past 2 weeks. Since opening night there has been major, major improvements in service. The bumps in the road were seemingly small. I've tried a total of 6 sandwiches so far and all of them have been bangers. My personal favourites being the Cubano, French Dip and surprisingly, the Veggie. Their desserts are all amazing as well, you can't go wrong with any of them. The cocktails are basic but they offer a price point and quality that make them well worth it. During my most recent visit I did notice some inconsistencies with the food. A friend had a pastrami sandwhich that unfortunately did not look anything like their instagram picture. I do hope those inconsistencies can be solved as it can be their downfall. A final word - get some dips for your fries and chips! Especially the chips! Overall, even taking into account the minor complaints Pal's is fantastic and a great addition to the area. Vegetarian options: They offer 2 fully vegetarian and 1 vegan Sandwhich. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly.
