About

Café-Boulangerie Paillard

Story

All pastries and croissants look amazing, had a cappuccino to enjoy with my butter croissant, highly recommend it. Service was fast and efficient/friendly. It is expensive, but your also buying great croissants. Came out of town had to try them again, bring a canvas bag if your taking out a paper bag is $3.30!
We had 5 different pastries and they were all very good, the cashier was very helpful in explaining the different kinds. Our favourite was the crookie.nThe ice latte was also very good, especially on a hot day.nThey have a sidewalk patio but a few of the tables are crowded together, you need to be careful getting in and out.
Dining area: Very spacious, I feel comfortable and relaxed during my breakfast time.nFood: Numbers of choice like sandwiches, croissants, salad…… Sandwiches are delicious. The danish I had is just fair, it is not fresh, so the texture is not as good as I expected a bit hard. But the taste is ok.nService: The staff is patient and polite, introduced their bread/ pastries to customers in detail.
The chocolate cake was very nice and rich. The crispy crust at the bottom was a nice contrast to the smooth chocolate layers. The chocolate almond croissant was also a nice treat, it would have been better warm so the chocolate filling would be slightly melted.
We liked this place, but not loved it.nBreakfast rush on a Summer Weekend is managed very poorly in lots of ways.nCustomers wandering around confused, and staff at the back seems just going back and forth.nA lot of pastry options are making it impossible to choose, but for my taste, the egg wash smelled very strong!nI know, it is weird for a famous bakery! So, if you get lucky with your choice lacking egg wash, they're quite good actually!nWe tried few options for breakfast or mid-day snack, so I recommend this place but for breakfast on a busy weekend, plan to arrive early.
