Busy spot, but the lines move quickly and the selection of pastries is amazing! We tried the pear with chocolate pastry , an apricot one and every thing was so delicious we purchased a few croissant and a raspberry claw and some carrot cake to go. The regular drip coffee could be improved if they had cream. Otherwise we found a spot to sit.
I was here around 8 in the morning and there was no line and plenty of seating available. It got busy quickly though. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich combo and enjoyed it, though I don't think there was anything extra special about the croissant here, perhaps it was not newly made in that morning. Regular coffee was included in the combo, latte was 1.80 extra. I also ordered a pastry with chocolate chips in the middle that I liked more, again it doesn't taste like it recently came out of the oven but it was nonetheless delicious.
Tasty, affordable, diverse pastry and coffee selections.nnPaillard is a chain and has numerous pastries, sandwiches, drinks and sweets. It's one of my favourite grab and go spots for pastries in the city if you don't know where the really good places are or can't afford them. It's the kind of place that's a bit more accessible.nnThat said, this location is often slow and crowded. That says something about the food, but it does get annoying when you have time constraints due to it being a quick holiday. This time around and a couple others, the wait was really long and they mixed up orders so ours wasn't immediately announced. Again, it was because the place was packed. When it's this busy, it's also not a very relaxing environment.
Did a massive croissant taste test during my stay in Quebec, and these croissants were good but definitely not the best in the city. Massive space makes it easy to find a seat and rest your tired feet. Pastries are all above average and meals are reasonable in an expensive area in the city. lovely spot for croissants and other pastries. sandwiches are supremely overpriced but still good all things considered. chocolate croissant is okay but i’ve had better. the standout is the original croissant which was still good even two days after i bought it! in terms of service, the workers were mostly polite, just somewhat unorganized. the location is great and not too far from other food spots and some of the main tourist attractions.
