La grande histoire d’un petit bistro sympa…
Comme un trésor enfoui en plein cœur du Faubourg St-Jean , un véritable secret bien gardé … l'histoire du Hobbit.
Ce petit bistro sympathique et sans prétention de la rue St-Jean, est à l'image du personnage de Tolkien. Malgré la hauteur de ses trois pommes, ìl porte en lui toute la grandeur d’une histoire dont l’écho se fait entendre encore aujourd’hui au moment du café.
Au fil du temps, il est devenu l'endroit où les plaisirs de la table se conjuguent à une ambiance digne d’un chez-soi chaleureux et agréable. Mais attention, derrière ce visage familier et son air avenant, se tapient, entre les pierres de cette vieille maison, des fantômes qui animent, encore aujourd’hui, ce petit je ne sais quoi qui fait du Hobbit un lieu à part.

The servers were great. They discussed menu items with us, told us about some of the locally produced food used in their kitchen and were generally fun people. We ate entrees from the afternoon menu and the food was great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This was an accidental find, looking for a place to eat dinner on Monday night, close to Hilton hotel when I was staying. What a treasure : excellent food, very pleasant ambiance and eclectic playlist of music that cheered me up and was a conversation prompter. It was good that music was also not too loud and was a nice background for dinner conversation. I had great Spanish wine that accompanied my superbly cooked medium-rare grilled elk flank steak and grilled vegetables. My friend had smoked octopus (actually an appetizer - I tried a bite and it was excellent). The cherry on top: two waiters with a great sense of humour. All in all: excellent experience!

Fantastic breakfast, we had the eggs Bennidict, and the breakfast platter. Great flavours, decent portions, and beautiful presentation. The interior has a very warm and interesting Decor, it was welcoming to come in out of the cold! Despite them being busy they were attentive and tried their best to handle the heavy traffic, but just be informed it can be very busy and you may wait to be seated or served simply due to volume. Overall it was great food, great place, and a great experience!

Honestly I was very surprised that this place was so shoddy based on the excellent reviews. Easily the worst meal we had in Quebec City, this place had average food with small portions. They had kombucha, but the one I received was covered in black mold and the waitress claimed it “was supposed to be like that.” My ass. I have had kombucha and it never has mold unless it’s been sitting at the bottom of my fridge for a year. They brought me out a fresh one and it was decent. Not from tap but in a bottle. I do not recommend eating here unless you want to get an overpriced, only decent meal and also moldy beverages. This is the only bad review I will give in Quebec.

Excellent place!! We had breakfast there one time after the other! Delicious! Awesome staff! Highly recommended!
