Your experience at this theatre will really be down to what your watching. I watched The Best of Enemies and loved it but when I watched the Mountaintop I was sorely disappointed and could not even leave as there was no intermission and we were sitting in the front row. I was very offended not by racial slurs but by utter blasphemy, cursing in general and treating God with such disrespect. It was shocking to say the least. Pacific please please please be selective. If you started of as a Christian theatre group please at least be respectful of God. Don’t play with Gods gender or curse at him. It’s not cool. And if you’re going to allow shows like that to run at least have an intermission so that people can leave without being disrespectful. We felt trapped. Venue is decent, productions are inconsistent.
Amazing experience, best professional theater choosing extremely thought provoking plays that make you a better human.
Top quality theatre productions that challenge the way you think through hard-hitting and well-acted stories
Great theatre space to attend independent theatre productions. I've attended and volunteered for three productions here and it's been very enjoyable both times. Great place to work and meet people. There are amenities served for evening shows. The theatre seating is cozy, accommodating around 140 people at full capacity I'm guessing.
I saw the preview night of A Prayer for Owen Meany and it moved me to tears. Great casting! This particular play is based on a book by John Irving & I feel having read the book did help with following the storyline & scenes. It's a small theatre ensuring every one gets a good view and the space is well utilized. Staff were friendly & welcoming. The website is very informative about parking & facility so the experience met my expectations.
Very unique cozy theatre. We watched the "Lion, Witch & Wardrobe" production. The actors were amazing! They did so much, with so little, and engaged us to use our imaginations. I'm not a live theatre person, but I did enjoy this tremendously!
Intimate and timeless. This is great place to get introduced to theatre. Everyone was very welcoming and inviting.
Went to watch Kim's Convenience. It was absolutely fantastic. The acting and everything was very well done. I had to hold back my tears until the end of the show cause I didn't want to miss anything. The staff was also very friendly. And the seats were comfy. Overall, highly recommend!
we have been going to plays in this little theatre for at least a decade. I love the intimate nature of the setting, there are only a couple hundred seats, max. I also love the willingness of the production/direction staff to be innovative. They did a radio style production of It's a Wonderful Life a few years ago at Christmas and it worked ... old style radio complete with advertisements. On occasion, they gamble on local playscripts.
This theatre is a gem in Vancouver's crown. Their work is invigorating, original and captivating. Most of their plays explore religious themes but are never preachy, campy or formulaic. Rather, they engage the theatre-goer as an entire person, acknowledging the unspoken yet very real requirement that good art affect the entirety of the person - body, mind, heart and soul. The space is simple yet effective; when the quality of the work is excellent one can forgive a basement space. Prices are more than reasonable as well. I just came from seeing their original production of Tolkien, and flew up from Los Angeles particularly for it. It was worth every penny.
