I am a home baker and take pride in my bread. I recently have developed a slight gluten intolerance, so I stopped by Origins and tried a baguette sandwich and a butter tart - both were excellent. I found the service friendly and helpful. I will certainly return here to try other baked goods to give me something to aim for at home. My sister has Celiac, and I will recommend that she try it when she is in town.

Been going to this Bakery now for 3 years. I have noticed many difference during that time. The owners seem to have been paying closer attention to customer service. I could feel free to let them know if I was unsatisfied for whatever reason and the owners were quick to correct it. When I first started going there the staff and service was not up to par. However the baked goods were always great. Today the staff is extremely warm and friendly. Happy faces and much better service. Great place.

My wife bought a scone here that was seriously good. The next week, I bought a scone that was seriously one of the worst tasting baked things I've ever put in my mouth. It was mealy and bitter, and I couldn't finish it. Maybe somebody screwed up the recipe that day, but they really should try this stuff before they sell it.

The best gluten free dairy free bread in Victoria. Really great to see all the wonderful treats that a dairy-free, gluten free person can get. My daughter was not able to get that when she was little, and so glad that children can get it now. Note though, that there is only a limited number of dairy-free treats. Staff have always been friendly each and every time for me.

BREAD CONTAINS PIGSKIN, NOT VEGETARIAN! My family has been buying the baguettes from the bakery for a few years (we don't get the bread because it's often on the burnt side, and is very expensive for what it is.) BUT we've been eating the baguettes, not thinking to look if they are vegetarian, because bread is (usually) inherently vegetarian. Gone are the days of lard... few do that anymore. But this bakery seems to think it's ok to add pig's skin to their products... Why an organic bakery would do such a thing is beyond me, particularly when there are wonderful healthy alternatives such as agar agar and Irish moss which in most cases work much better, and always work as well as the pig skin alternative. So this is devastating news for my family. Especially for my daughters who've never eaten meat. My youngest cried all the way home, asking me how to make herself vomit because she felt so sick. We're appalled and disgusted and will NEVER eat anything from Origin again. Not that it's any loss, their breads are mediocre at best. Their baguettes were good for garlic bread, because like a lot of their bread, it's often overcooked and a little tasteless and plastic-ish (they'd get a better texture with agar!) But we are not in the least bit sad to leave this bakery for good... I've had many experiences with rude or blasé staff and never look forward to having to deal with certain people in there (but would do it for my daughter who doesn't do well with wheat and liked garlic baguettes). The owner, I will say, is quite nice, but it's shame about the majority of the staff and, HUGE shame about the gelatin.
