Options Jazz Lounge at Brookstreet

Indifferent staff and untrained chef. The entry. I recently visited Options with my family while staying at the BrookStreet. The lounge was at around 20% capacity when we arrived with an abundance of servers. We seated ourselves as instructed and ended up in plain site of the central bar and servers but still had a ten minute wait for just the menus. When we approached the bar and inquired about menus we were informed that a server would be by at some point. Not a great start. The food. My wife and I both ordered the Steak and Frites (opted for the regular fries), the fries were dynamite, very crispy and seasoned nicely. The steak was to be medium rare but when it was dropped off it was cool to the touch with a cold interior and the cook was more rare border line raw. The peppercorn sauce was was also lacking, hardly any pepper flavor and three actual peppercorns. The bill. We had a $30 voucher to be used at either Options or Perspectives (the two restaurants in the hotel). This came in the form of a named letter. When we attempted to use it at Options the "manager" informed us that it was only for bills applied to the room we were staying in, even though the voucher did not indicate this, it mentioned that guests are encouraged to apply the charges to their room but it was not a necessity in order to use the voucher. The server we eventually had was great though, very attentive to the table and our kids needs which is why it has more then 1 star.

I always check public reviews of restaurants and hotels. Most of the time the review is right. This time I decided to try even though the review wasn't good to my standard, because of the live jazz music. The music was okay, not fantastic but typical live jazz music. The service was horrible. Never again. The waitress was nowhere to be seen when I'm ready to order hence taking long time to have just sushi and a beer. She was busy talking to young patrons and we were ignored most of the time. A restaurant inside 4-star hotel doesn't give you a 4-star rating by itself. You have to train your servants and workers properly. In my opinion she doesn't deserve to be working in the service industry.

I wasn't aware that they cooked their steak on Mount Doom. The "medium" steak was a flavorless charcoal block. The tastiest item on the plate was the ketchup.

Went here for lunch last week. The service was great, but the food wasn't very good. We added chicken to our $12 salad. The chicken was probably a day old and super dry. Also, to add chicken to a salad was $8. That's insane.
