Overall, the school is okay, but there are several issues. The building looks rundown and the washrooms often smell. Homework is manageable, but you need to learn quickly. Summer classes are especially intense—they compress about nine months of material into two months and end with a cumulative test. Many lessons are taught once and then the class moves on, so it’s easy to fall behind. If you learn at a slower pace, this may not be the right fit. Some teachers also rely too much on reading straight from handouts.nnIf you plan to take French, note there is only one French teacher. In my experience, he sometimes singled out students who made mistakes. During one test, he accused me of cheating after I scored well on a section and didn’t give me a chance to explain. When I returned from taking online classes in the winter, he confronted me again and assumed I was avoiding him without hearing my side.nnOn the positive side, some classes are helpful and there are teachers who are supportive and effective. But overall, the pace and teaching style won’t work for everyone.
Olympiads is amazing! My normal day school is super easy after taking the courses ahead of time. Olympiads has helped me fast-track my learning and I got access to knowledge and information even above AP/IB level.
Olympiads School is genuinely good at least their math classes for grades 9, 10, and 11, as that's the only one I've gone to. The teachers and administration have always been friendly and helpful, from rescheduling classes to answering questions on what you learned. The lessons in my opinion are pretty fast-paced but filled with new skills that are essential to build a good foundation for math. + there were free candy and cold/hot water nHowever, during this summer math class there was always a loud comotion I think it was a Chinese woman yelling in the front of the school that would distract me from learning, it would happen EVERY time I was there, which was pretty annoying.
Do not take French at this school. There is only one French teacher, and his classes are a complete waste of time. Every day he spends at least 15 minutes just on roll call. If a student makes even a small mistake, he will go on for 10 minutes scolding them with sharp and unpleasant language. Overall, he shows no respect for others, comes across as rude, and even seems to enjoy picking on children—sometimes with what feels like discrimination against Chinese students. This is not strictness; it’s arrogance and disrespect. The homework that should be done at home, also give time to finish in class, so I end up with reading other books or don’t do homework at home instead to finish it during class.nnSometimes he goes silent for over 10 minutes without any explanation. Before every exam, he repeats the same instructions again and again, and always gives the same practice test with answers, wasting another 15 minutes each time. On the last class of the semester, instead of teaching, he spends the entire time reading out who missed assignments and everyone’s midterm and final scores—information that’s already available online.nnThe exams themselves are very short, but he insists on giving students almost the entire class to complete them. Even after finishing, students are not allowed to leave Zoom early, which wastes even more time. With children already having very full schedules, this class ends up wasting both time and money. That’s why we’ve decided not to continue with him this year.
Eh, to be honest the teachers are honestly pretty good but like the hmk is a bit too much and the courses are pretty fast paced, i feel like the school is fine but im just a slower learner and its a bit overwhelming for me.
