So I have always been a fan of OEB, more specifically, the downtown location. The food has always been great, the atmosphere fun and inviting, and the servers offering up suggestions. We decided to try out the University location as we were now pleased to have one super close to us. It was our first experience here. The food was just okay, the fruit garnish was no longer good, and the restaurant/vibe was completely not what I have ever known OEB to be.nnTwo of our dishes were brought to the table by the expediter, that was fine however, the two other dishes for our party of 4 didn’t come until 15 minutes later.nnOur server was nice, came by to check on us, however, it was just that, hello, take the order, take payment and that’s all.nnWill not return to this location.
The meal was delicious, particularly the wonderful fries. There was a waiting list, but reservations can be made online. The service was satisfactory, as it would be at any other restaurant but didn’t ask for refill. The ambiance is appropriate for a casual hangout, but nothing exceptional, and the pricing are on the high side.
OEB did not disappoint! I met a friend there for my birthday brunch. Our server was welcoming, and patient with our questions. I loved my lemon French toast. It was perfectly cooked and had plenty of berries on it. We lingered and visited and were never made to feel like we needed to leave. I loved the vibe so you might too.
My family members have been going to OEB regularly for years and we have all enjoyed our experiences in many Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary locations. The staff are always so attentive, pleasant and helpful during our visits. The food is fabulous. Kudos to your teams and thank you. :
Shared A couple dishes with friends. We had the florentine benedict , blue crab benedict, Scrambled lobster and shrimp crepe, Trifle french toast. Overall the quality of the food was gold. In particular the the Scrambled lobster and shrimp crepe and Trifle french toast were amazing. The blue crab Benedict was disappointing with a very sea/tuna flavour. The latte were decent. Service was great as was the ambiance.
