Excellent food! I had the chicken and gnocchi, my wife had the seasonal risotto with chicken. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for the price. Our service was a little slow but very friendly.
I feel so robbed. 60.00 for a very small amount of food and the bag felt so light carrying out. I could get double the amount of food in other restaurants like Zooroona for example. I am so disappointed I ordered here today. The lettuce for the large salad is literally a handful of lettuce. The risotto looked so good in the pics posted by others but it looked underwhelming when I got this order. The pizza...I am sorry but for thin crust and 11 inches, it does not substantiate the cost. 60.00 for 30.00 worth of food.
Enjoyed a nice post Xmas lunch with my mother in law. She had the salmon BLT and I had the HOT Nashville Chicken Sandwich. It was good but HOT it was NOT. I believe the ketchup with the fries has more spiciness. LOL- but still a decent chicken sandwich. I will say the fries were some of the best with an excellent crispy coating and I’m not a French fry guy.
This was my first ever visit and I like to give a place a couple of tries before really judging it so you can take what I have to say with a grain of salt. Bottom line though? Not overly impressed. Now the others in my group generally enjoyed their visit so maybe I was just having a bad day. Anyway, I thought the prices were a bit high for the amount and quality of the food. I ordered the meat loaf entree, which looked and tasted like no other meat loaf I have ever experienced, and it was $22. It came with four or five small fingerling potatoes and a small leafy salad that had way too much dill in it. Very strong. A good number of those in our group ordered pizza and seemed to be pleased and my mother-in-law ordered the Salmon BLT and said it was quite good. But her side of broccoli was cold. Another in our group ordered a squash based dish and it also came out quite cold. She thought that maybe she misunderstood how the dish was supposed to be prepared so respectfully asked our waitress who, by the way was very good if it was supposed to come cold. The waitress, of course, said no and took the dish back to the kitchen. On the way into the kitchen she met up with the cook and told him the dish was cold we could hear the whole conversation. Anyway, we heard him holler about it as if my friend who ordered the dish was crazy! At that point the conversation moved behind closed doors where it should have taken place from the start. We all kind of chuckled about it but were very unimpressed. Very unprofessional. So between my food not being very good, other folks meals coming out cold, the unprofessional cook incident, prices being too high, an overall lack of menu choices many of which were a bit eclectic in my opinion, and what I felt was a lack of ambience it is not a place I would choose to go to again. If I were invited to go I would certainly give it one more chance but would order a different dish. So there you have it... my review of Oakwood Bistro. Do what you will with it but please, smile and have a great day. Dietary restrictions: One gentleman in our group has a gluten allergy and was able to order pizza with a gluten free crust.
The food and chips were a bit salty for my taste, but the specialty cocktails were very good. The service was really nice. My advice, if you wanna go during the rush hours, reserve a table in advance since the wait time might be around 45 minutes!Food: 4/5
This was a case of a restaurant that could have been great but failed to execute. The first dish of the night was the charred onion dip, a dish whose description had the making of an intelligent and thoughtful combination of flavors. I mean really, who can screw up a yogurt based onion dip? When it came out plated in a plastic cup surrounded by greasy potato chips, it was a bit underwhelming. Not to say plastic cups are taboo, but there should have been some bowl small enough to hold that same amount of dip. The dip itself was good, but nothing great. It had the potential to be good, all the flavors that needed to be there were present, but this incredibly salty/tangy taste took the spotlight away from the others. I would rate this a 3.5/5. The entree for myself was the salmon meatball linguine which was surprisingly tasty. The linguine was al dente and the cream sauce had a slight sweetness and complexity which elevated the dish. The meatballs were good but I would have wished more texture beyond the dry, crumbly variety. They also had very little seasoning, all I could taste was salmon and the faint taste of a few chopped veggies. I would give this a 4.5/5. My mother had a squash risotto which was probably the worst dish of the night. Butternut squash anything should be seasoned one of two ways, savory with herbs like rosemary and thyme, or sweet, with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The Oakwood Bistro chose a third option which was to not season the dish whatsoever. This lack of seasoning completely capsized the dish, making it practically inedible. It became a squash flavored goop with no discernible positive qualities. I would give this a 1/5 and only because I like the taste of squash. My dad got the Oakwood Wedge which doesn’t have much to speak of, similar to the lack of anything on the plate. It was literally a wedge of lettuce with a few cucumbers and some tomatoes and onions messily scattered through the plate. It was mediocre, but a few things put it below the 2.5 rating. One, the blue cheese dressing was not that great and two, the cucumbers were clearly cheap quality and had a coating of extremely bitter skin which ruined the already non-existent quality of the dish. If you wanna go here, order the linguine, nothing else.
I was excited to try Oakwood Bistro, but left pretty disappointed. I ordered their French Onion soup which lacked in flavor. The only “flavor” I tasted was plastic. I also ordered a Caesar salad and the dressing tasted like straight Mayonnaise. My friend ordered the cajun crab and corn dip which was really the only reason I didn’t leave the restaurant still hungry and even that was only decent. The only good part of my meal was my Raspberry Iced Tea. However, I am leaving 2 stars because my server was nice and took my soup off of my tab because I only had one bite and expressed my disappointment. I don’t see myself coming back in the future.
Great service and atmosphere. Pizza that we had was a notch above excellent. Fresh ingredients and house made fennel sausage. Will definitely be back soon.Food: 5/5
So very disappointing! We waited 15 minutes without water without being acknowledged by a server or the host. Several waitresses walked by us without even looking at us we felt invisible. We left after 15 minutes of being ignored. Shame on the host and the wait staff for such nonexistent service. We won’t be returning and will spread the news.
Never can go wrong with the ribs! Margarita was stellar. My friend said her risotto was top notch. But best of all was the excellent service of our waitstaff Jacob; friendly, accommodating and good humored. I love this place!Food: 5/5
