Good day! I am a patriotic American who also is a huge supporter of our Canadian brothers and sisters. I have always celebrated the incredible diversity and beauty of Canada. However, today's library experience in sensational Oakville was appalling. First, I requested a laptop as instructed by a staff member at a local hotel. The librarian cantankerously disapproved. I had an URGENT Zoom meeting in America at 12:!5 with five or more people. The story improved a bit when I went to the Children's Department on a different floor. Sadly, it took the woman almost five minutes to register me for a guest pass. In America, no ID is needed to use library computers as a guest/visitor. Then, after logging onto the computer, I could not use the video or audio features on the computer. To make a long story a bit shorter, my meeting ended up starting 15 plus minutes late because of the LACK of tangible support from the Oakville Library. Multiple fully functioning computers existed in office spaces but no one showed empathy, grace, or teamwork under pressure. Oakville is a tremendous community and I will always be an outward supporter of Canada but this situation may NEGATIVELY impact my career. Come on librarians, step up and serve people regardless of race, color, class, or nation of origin!!
Beautiful library. Great kids/children's area. Staff as friendly and kind as always.
Massive selection of books for all people. Great washrooms and is a large spacious library overall. Staff are great and the library is close to a lot of great places .nFacility is just a bit old, but other than that, it's perfectly great .
I visited the main floor. It was pretty nice.nThings I liked:nn1. The lounge is relaxing and open concept.n2. The suprise bags of books that you can grab and go is a great idea, recommend.n3. Overall location is great.n4. Community puzzle space is fun!
Beautiful location right next to Sixteen Mile Creek and the historic part of Oakville. The semicircular glass window reading area makes a perfect place to enjoy a book.
