I have always been a patient at Oakridge Optometry. I’ve been seeing different optometrists, but after having my last appointment with Dr. Lee, I am definitely sticking around! Dr. Lee is extremely knowledgeable and provides the best service. I recently found out something important about my eyesight because of her eye exam. Thanks Dr. Lee! And thank you to the efficient and kind front desk. I was a bit late because I was not made aware of the location change, but the front desk was not belittling or rude. Thanks!
I'm the patient of Dr. Powell for 20 years. I have a few words for the clinic's receptionists especially Ms. Stephanie: When a patient phoned in to order contact lenses, place the order asap and not four business days of delay. When a vision prescription needs to be updated as instructed by the doctor, do this asap and not sitting on it and eventual forgotten of the matter. Please be reminded that your responsibilities are different from other receptionists in other industries. How you act and behave grossly affect the comfort and safety of vision challenged patients. If you dont have this sense of accountability, work somewhere else. This is a clinic and not a retail store. Take instructions from patients and doctors seriously and don't play around with them. If you promised to return a phone call to the patient, keep your promise as the patient will be anxiously waiting for your call.
I've been going to this clinic for years now and after my last two encounters no issues before this with the front desk staff/reception, I will not be going back. I have NEVER written a negative complaint on Google before but feel compelled to based on my recent experiences here. I have no complaints about the optometrists, but the way the receptionists treat you is absolutely unacceptable and rude. The first incident happened when I ordered contacts for a trip I was going to go on. I placed the order 3 weeks in advance of the trip. A week before I was supposed to go on the trip, I called and was told the contacts had arrived but one of the receptionists had mislabeled the order. I was then told the manager would call me back that day. After a day passed and I didn't receive a call back, I called again. This time I was able to speak to the manager who told me that the contacts company had to do a special order for these lenses and it was back-ordered which is totally fine but I was not told this in advance so assumed 3 weeks was enough time. This also would have been fine had I not received mixed messages as they had told me they arrived seemed suspicious. I ended up going on the trip without contacts. After I got back from the trip, I received my contacts which are supposed to be monthly contacts. After going through two pairs in 5 days one tore as I took it out of my eye and one tore just in my eye. I only noticed the latter as it was hurting and when I got home that day and took it out. There was a huge rip in it pictured below. I don't rub my eyes during the day and there would be no reasons for two pairs to break so easily in the span of five days. When I called the contact brand, they were nice enough and said they would like to look into this but they would need to speak to the optometry clinic as they don't deal directly with consumers. When I called Oakridge Optometry and spoke to the receptionist relaying the message from the contact brand to contact them, she laughed off my concern and was completely dismissive. She then told me she'd just get her manager to speak to me and hung up. I've never felt treated so poorly by customer service in my life. I will NEVER go back here. UPDATE: I never got a call back from the manager.
This was my first time having my eyes checked in a long time and I had a wonderful experience at this clinic. Getting my appointment set up was quick and easy and the front staff was welcoming. Dr. Gloria Lee was very understanding of my concerns and for the first time, I did not feel rushed by a doctor as she was very patient. She is personable and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend her and this clinic!
I noticed that my 5 year old son had developed a lazy eye recently and took him to see Dr. Lee. She was amazing in diagnosing him and immediately referring us to a pediatric ophthalmologist, as his eyesight was quite poor. We are so thankful to her attentiveness and getting us in to see the specialist quickly. My son was fitted with a contact lens and glasses. She really put my son and I both at ease with her calm demeanor and answered all of our questions. She was even able to help him put a contact lens into his eye quite easily - not a simple task when working with a 5 year old child! I would highly recommend Dr. Lee to anyone.
I would like to thank Oakridge Optometry and Dr. Lee.for the excellent experience I had when Dr. Lee recently performed my eye examination. I have been going to Oakridge Optometry for years, but always had seen Dr. Pawa.. This time our schedules didn't align, so I made an appointment to see Dr. Lee. I was a little apprehensive about seeing a new doctor after all these years of Dr. Pawa's excellence, but my concerns were unnecessary, Dr.Lee was outstanding, awesome! Her down-to-earth and kind manner put me totally at ease. I could quickly tell that she was the consummate professional. Her guidance, knowledge, communication, and kindness made my visit not only painless, but I left with a feeling of gratitude that I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Lee. I would highly recommend Dr. Lee and Oakridge Optometry Clinic.
Dr.Lee helped my 4 yr old toddler RIGHT AWAY when he got styes left and right....up and down! She was able to ensure a quick appointment with the ped. opthamologist and proper medicine. She also checks in on how his progress is. For a mom who is so worried....Dr.Lee made sure I felt at ease about his eyes. She is also very patient and calming for my other son who has anxieties. Highly Highly recommended!!!!
I loved having my eyes checked here. The reception staff were really nice and personable. And Dr. Sasan was very kind and professional; she didn't just give me a prescription but she taught me about the anatomy of my eyes in order for me to understand better. Before coming in, I had been nervous to get my eyes checked and put it off for a long time, but I had a great time and I'm honestly looking forward to going back.
Great service, but I have to say you guys have really dropped the ball regarding your temporary closure. My glasses have been broken for 3 weeks now, and I need a copy of my prescription in order to have them replaced. I've called and emailed to no avail. Due to my incessant calling, this is an emergency, after all, ding ding! I discovered that you have an employee who comes into the office at noon, daily. I got through to the employee on Monday, who talked over me to explain the move and that you aren't accepting patients right now. I was frustrated but decided to remain calm. I explained my situation very clearly: I need a copy of my prescription in order to get my desperately needed eyeglasses, so I can drive, and generally function as a sighted person. My name, birth date, phone number, and email were recorded and I was told I'd have the prescription in 'one or two days'. That was on Monday. Ffwd to Friday: I phoned again, and was given the same deal, name, phone number, I asked: "do you need my email again"? Explained the situation, again, and I have been on hold for 32 minutes. I can't imagine that you are so inundated with calls and emails that you can't service one long time client, but here we are. The person answering the phone treated me as an annoyance, well hey, man, sorry for asking you to, you know.. do your job !?!? This is a unique but definitely not unforseeable situation, and I feel that it hasn't been handled well at all. I wish you well at your new location. Update: I have to say , an employee reached out and made things right. I understand that life happens and logistics can be daunting. I feel their apology and willingness to make things right were sufficient. But really guys: hire people who want the job. No one should EVER treat YOUR clients as a nuisance.
It's unfortunate. I'm a student again, what else there to do during a pandemic?, and I'm first Nations with a Status Card. I had a 9:30AM appointment as a new client. I was told to bring my status card with me and ID. My status card is expired, but I can't renew it yet, COVID-19 closed down Indian Registration Offices—BUT, you can go to the Government of Canada website and see under Indian Status THAT even the Status Cards that are expired are still accepted. The lady entered my information into their computer, and said it didn't work. I'm surprised she didn't ask the Optometrist who would have had more experience with Status Clients, but she didn't. Just a cold, "I'm sorry, it didn't work." If I wasn't a student, I wouldn't mind paying the 100-200 dollar fees, but I am a student. I had a really busy week—I could have slept in today! it's a Saturday... If your Indigenous and looking for an Optometrist, don't bother, they'll say the same thing, "I'm sorry, it didn't work." It's disappointing and unfortunate, I wasted a big portion of my morning.
