Nutana Cafe

Dropped in around 6pm on Sunday. It was our first visit. The food was quickly served and delicious. The wonton soup had big chunks of vegetables and shrimp, with very tasty broth. The spring rolls were bigger than expected, 5 per serving. The ginger beef was served sizzling hot. The server owner? was relaxed and friendly, and advised on the size of our order. He was spot on... we ate absolutely everything and were more than satiated. We didn't try much of the menu as it was just a quick bite, but now that I know where it is, it's on my "to frequent" list. Very unpretentious, relaxed, good food, good prices, right on Broadway.

People may be confused about what this restaurant is. In my view, the Nutana Cafe is like one of those tiny back alley secret gems at King and Spadina in Toronto where I'm from , that you could only discover by accident or word-of-mouth. I come here because it has what I have been missing from Saskatoon restaurans: Extreme Value + Familiar Feelings. By the same token, the restaurant is not showy. It is clear they have not wasted overhead in tawdry decore or anything like that. I enjoy seeing the same décor I've seen for years. It gives me that familiar feeling which is, in my opinion, part of the this restaurant's end product. If you are the type of person that enjoys visual perceptions in a restaurant, this restaurant may not be for you. And that is OK. That said, the place is always very clean, hygienic, and I have never had any issues in that vein. This restaurant offers value low cost, good food, always in the same way Costco does. It is not showy, sort of like how Costco doesn't waste money on creating visual appeal. And in the same way, Nutana Cafe, like Costco, provides an insane amount of value for what you pay for. My 2 kids and I just walked in -30 to come eat breakfast here. And it was well worth it. It is a great breakfast, worth much more than the $8 we paid. We got here, were greeted with the same familiar faces, and because we were ordering breakfast, were given priority over the lunch orders something you can't even pay for - ESPECIALLY at pricier restaurants. If you are the type of person that needs a visual experience in a restaurant: order for delivery- you'll love the food. If you are the type of person that focuses on only the raw truths of the restaurant, and its place in the greater context of our Nutana community, dine in. Coming to eat at this restaurant is like watching an episode of The Wonder Years. I will continue venturing here in -30with my kids, hopefully until they move out. Amazing food as always! We dine in or order take out weekly and love it every time! I especially love the noodle bowls and the Vietnamese ginger beef! Any time my family is in town we have to get noodle bowls, and they have the best spring rolls and fresh rolls in town! Vegetarian options: My cousin always orders the vegetable noodle bowl because she is vegetarian and we get it every time she’s in town. Kid-friendliness: My kids have been eating here since they first were able to eat solid food! Always a kids pleaser! Noodles are the best for picky eaters too!

We dined at Nutana Cafe, we had breakfast, it was only $8.00, wow a great price. The owner was very pleasant and friendly. We had the breakfast which consisted of 3 sausage’s,2 eggs and real tasty potatoes, it was like real home cooked meal. We had toast and delicious coffee. I would recommend this cafe to people who like great tasting food and the prices are good. Will come back again.

Saw the reviews and thought it should be a relatively safe place to try. Either the reviewers have really low standards for food, or there just aren’t any good options in the city. We walked in & immediately wanted to walk back out – the place is extremely outdated and dirty looking, not appetizing in the slightest. Food was bland, unflavored, greasy, and honestly not worth it’s cheap price. Service was a joke, the guy at the front was awful and had a disgusting attitude. Go anywhere else but here, I wouldn’t even eat here if it was for free

We love the food here. Never have had a bad experience, and owner is efficient with a hilarious sense of humour! Highly recommend Salad Rolls and Lemon Chicken which comes with rice!

Very rudely refused service. I went here with my mother and sister today in the afternoon to eat some light snacks. We were very rudely told that they won't serve us unless we spend more than $30. When we asked for a reason or if their menu mentioned this, the person at the counter rudely said that it's his rule and he makes the rules. We were shaken because nothing like this has ever happened to us anywhere.

ill start by saying i dont like putting down local resturants especially bc i love vietnamese food, but i was disappointed. one of my biggest issue was theres no pho regardless, i went here seeing all the high reviews and thought it would be some local gem. its medicore at an optimistic best. i didnt like what i ate and i couldnt finish even a respectable amount. the beef was dry and had a weird texture even tho it was soupy and the spring rolls were soggy. its not very expensive but id rather eat elsewhere.

This is my absolute favorite place to grab food in the city. Plenty of options on the menu, a perfect chill ambience, a fantastic owner, and the greatest food in the largest quantities you could ask for, and on top of all that it's super affordable. All in all you probably couldn't find a better place to bring your friends for lunch

Im not exaggerating when I tell you this is the worst place Ive been to to eat in my entire life. I tried to call and book on the phone and the man was very rude, didnt seat us, he also looked like he just woke up, wearing dirty sweatpants and a dirty t-shirt. My girlfriend and I are super chill customers and we are very patient but we felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable in this place. The man had a super rude tone with me from the start, and was questioning me on why I called the restaurant and tried to book. I wish I could've recorded the entire thing because it was the worst customer service experience Ive had, my girlfriend and I walked out after 5 minutes in awe of how bad it was. If I could give a negative 5 star review I would. The place was empty and its clear why. Do not go here.
