Inside the basilica, I feel comfortable and find the opportunity to speak with God, letting go of worries and recharging. This place seems made for restoring inner balance and bringing relief.nnI consider Notre-Dame one of the best sights in Ottawa for those seeking a spot for solitude and calm. The beautiful architecture, harmonious space, and warm atmosphere make it essential for spiritual relaxation. It’s a place for anyone looking to find peace and inner strength — I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a quiet, inspiring moment.
Visited here over the summer and fell in love with the architecture and the beautiful stories & artwork throughout the church. The people working here were so personable and kind. I had the opportunity to walk around and learn, sit to pray and take part in the daily Mass. I entered at a great time late afternoon. It wasn’t too busy for the first half of my visit and I had the opportunity to really take my time and walk around to be able to see as much as I could.nnThere’s no cost to enter, the church takes donations.nnA must-see if you love history, art, detail and architecture!

Visit on Monday December 30, 2024. Beautiful Neo-Gothic Catholic Basilica with French-Canadian influences. Dates to approximately 1846. Wonderful organ and incredibly detailed and ornate statues and stained glass windows. Mobility impaired accessible, elevator, ramps, washrooms and a nice café / cantina offering refreshments in the lower level. Uncertain of parking as our group had walked to this church.
What a gorgeous Church! Reminds me of a couple I seen in Italy. They have a lovely little café in the basement with lots of options. There was a baptism happening while we were visiting, which was adorable.
