Today, your family stepped into the timeless beauty of the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa. Beneath its soaring arches and intricate stained-glass windows, the sacred silence embraced you all, offering a moment of peace and awe. The golden hues of the altar shimmered like a beacon of history, while whispers of countless prayers seemed to linger in the air. Watching your children gaze at the ornate details, curiosity mingling with reverence, must have been a reminder of how beauty transcends generations. It was a day etched with both serenity and connection, a cherished memory woven into the tapestry of your family’s journey.
Really beautiful church. Very intricate work. There will be tourists/visitors when there is not a church service going on. But everyone was respectful and kept quiet. You can also give donation and buy candles using physical/digital cards as they have contactless payments.
This is a very beautiful and prayer church. On entering, one immediately gets a sense of peace and calm and an urge to just sit, pray and enjoy the beauty of the space. The woodwork, the art, the statues, everything just draws one into the deep mysteries of faith. At the time I visited, there weren't too many people so this aided in the calm and quiet of the place. There's a cafe downstairs with coffee and pastries with a large sitting area to eat, relax and recollect. I did not attend any services/ masses so can't comment on these.
Though I’m not religious I’ve always enjoyed and appreciated the architecture and structure of churches. My inner goth comes out I guess This is a very nice church inside as is the twin spires when you look at it on the outside.
The cathedral is stunning. I haven't seen such a beautiful church in a long time. Beautiful stained glass windows, sculptures and altar
