We ordered the Lasagna special for pickup. We were told it would be 30 minutes. When we got there the door was locked and no instructions on where to go or what to do. After knocking on the door we were told our order would be 5 minutes longer. After 5 minutes we were told it would be another 10 minutes. Finally we received our meal in the parking lot and headed home. The food was very good with a homestyle taste.
The Mushroom Ravioli with Tomato Garlic Sauce was extraordinary! I cleaned my plate with the yummy bread and don't regret a thing. This restaurant is not a franchise. This is made by hand from recipes passed down through the family with some creative additions from Luigi and Tarra. The place is spotless, and cozy. Superb service. I heard that they're fully booked for Valentine's Day, so forget about it. But get in there soon.
AWESOME FOOD, STAFF, AND OWNER! AUTHENTIC ITALIAN FOOD
Quiet dinner for two. Recommend a reservation, as we were lucky at the time to get a table on a walk-in basis. We could actually hear what each other was saying without talking loud! Service was great and very friendly, food was delicious and served in reasonable time. Price was appropriate for the event.
Was expecting more, got to the restaurant at 7pm, ordered entrees and main at same time. didn't get entree until 720, good timing. Main Course did not arrive until 8:10pm, Fettuccine Alfredo had too much salt in it and was very cheesy. Asked for a water waited for 20 minutes to get a refill on water glasses, no drink menu. As far as the rating for 1 star because it is very expensive for a small local restaurant. Was thinking this would be a nice hidden gem instead of the main places people go to. But unfortunately waiting that long and 2 main courses with one entree to come to $55 is a bit absurd. I went with a open mind because of previous rating but after tonight. I will say staff are friendly, but for a Friday night, more staff is needed to go around the tables as refill customers drinks and make sure everything is okay. Other than that, Food was too salty from the chef, a paying customer shouldn't have to wait that long without a update on the food at all. Takes few seconds to run over and say it will be right out. I was given bread at 840, which is most restaurants signifies that the main is coming soon, but soon was 35 minutes later..
It's a good thing there food is good!!!! We have been there twice. Both times they were out of Italian beer which seems to be a favourite amongst customers. Service was good the first time we were there, the second they "lost" our order. So we had to wait a bit for our food and were told they had others in line to get theirs before us. We were hoping they would take some money off our bill for the inconvenience but they did not. If it wasn't for their venal parmesan, we likely wouldn't be back.
We recently booked a reservation for 13 for my son's confirmation supper. Nino's did not disappoint! We ordered a variety of items - pizza, chicken parmesan, fettuccine alfredo, stuffed shells, linguini with clams, lasagna and tortellini. Everyone agreed that they were all outstanding and arrived piping hot. The stuff shells in particular looked amazing and my cousin said they were perfect. I'm going to try them next time! The fresh bread was excellent and the espresso is delicious and hit the spot. In comparing the menu prices to other restaurants when making our reservation, they are very much in line and in fact, sometimes a bit better as some of the meals include bread and salad. Wait staff was so kind and accommodating - it was a pleasure to celebrate this special day here!.
Absolutely pathetic, Service terrible, cutlery disgustingly dirty. Couldn't get my order right. My family finished their meals before mine even came out. You want people to support local?? Trying supporting yourself first! This place used to be great......last time I'll be coming here.
Best Italian restaurant in Barrie. Built by the owner's grandfather, the tradition continues with his recipes from the old country. I love this place when I need a home cooked meal "like mama made it" . Great value too.
The worse Italian food I've ever tasted don't waste you hard earned dollars eating here. Delisioso Pizza from the frozen section of your shopping store has a much more delicious taste than anything on the menu here. DON'T WASTE YOUR GAS TIME OR MONEY
