We went to the winter light festival!nnAfter moving to the area we were looking for new things to enjoy as a family and came across Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens. It's so beautiful! We went to the light festival and had a wonderful time walking the paths and looking at the many lights they've strung up amongst the trees.nnOur 3 year old enjoyed herself about as much as my husband and I did.
Agreed to other reviews, its a small place but you can hang out for much longer. Took us half an hour to 45mins to feel and enjoy the garden. Then we head out to the restaurant for another 15-30mins.nnIf you’re from out of town and visiting during summer might as well bring your swimming gears because right beside the park is the Henderson swimming pool. That way you are not wasting travel time and effort when you get here. I would advise to please plan your trip.nnWe will be coming back for the light show
Beautiful and serene. While we were there an origami class was held. The coffee/tea and cookie were a wonderful treat. The shop has selected items, and there is a lot of cultural information everywhere. Definitely worth a visit.
Japanese garden not very Japanese. Very small walking crescent shaped trail. Start to finish takes about 10-15 minutes. There are interesting spots which are picture worthy. Going there once is good. They have winter lights in December.nPeople who are planning to go more than once, annual membership is the best.
This place is beautiful. It is small but if you go to sit and take it all in. It has a calming effect on the soul. Admission is purchased at the building before the garden entrance. If you stop back at the garden after entry you get a drink and gluten free stroopwaffle with the purchase of admission. On a hot day this was a blessing. There is also more information about the creation of the Japanese Gardens inside the cafe building. History of Japanese Canadians in Alberta. The trials and tribulations they endured during World War II.
