I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant. This one has some history, so sit tight. A number of years ago, 8 to be exact, I began college in the area with some of my former classmates. While deciding on where to go for lunch, we discovered Nico’s Pizzeria. This is where my displeasure for this restaurant truly began. We had a simple order that afternoon; 1 order of garlic knots to share with a side of marinara. Although I am unable to recall the quality of service, I do remember receiving an aluminum pan full of half burned, half uncooked garlic knots. Needless to say I was disappointed. About a year later, I landed a full-time job in the area, and needed to find a decent place for lunch. I decided that Nico’s, being the nearest pizzeria, deserved at least another chance, especially since a year had passed. Their pizza was passable for a quick grab-and-go option when I didn’t have time for much else. Over the next few years, I became a semi-frequent customer going at least every other week. At one point I had been introduced to the manager/owner by a mutual friend and we became close acquaintances. We eventually reached a point where we would greet each other on a first name basis, and without needing to ask, I was brought a drink (Dr. Pepper, which was unavailable on the second floor due to not being included on tap) and asked if I’d be having my usual, off-menu selection. I was a happy regular, visiting every now and again for my off menu lunch and being treated with kindness, respect, and always a friendly chat with the owner. That being said, I was never very impressed by the quality of food here. I still never increased the frequency of my visits and avoided their menu almost religiously. I have never had a piece of pizza that didn’t have undercooked crust, and when ordering slices from the counter downstairs I rarely received a piece that was above tepid at best, even upon specifically asking for them to be “extra hot”. My recent encounter at this establishment will be my very last. After a long day at work and in preparation for a birthday celebration for a friend, I found myself at another local restaurant. After ordering my food, the group had decided to meet at Nico’s rooftop for the festivities. I arrived first, and seated myself at a small table and continued eating my food, awaiting my party’s arrival. I found myself alone aside from two other guests and a very loud, opinionated waiter. I was never greeted. And the opinions that were being expressed by the staff to other customers were making me very uncomfortable. Upon my party’s arrival, I was finally greeted along with the rest of the group. The waiter took our order for drinks and was about to be off when she noticed my meal was from elsewhere. She made no hesitation in letting me know: “I’ll let it slide this time. But if the bar manager sees you, it will cause trouble.” I very politely apologized and mentioned that I knew the bar manager personally and didn’t think it would be an issue since we had just ordered drinks and were planning on spending the rest of the evening as happy patrons. I was told not that it would “probably be fine” and the waiter hurried off, I assumed to retrieve our drinks. Not 5 minutes had passed before we were approached by the bar manager, whom I greeted by name assuming we were still cordial. It started innocently enough with small-talk, however quickly became extremely uncomfortable. I was again accosted about having outside food. I attempted to let the my acquaintance know about the drinks we had JUST ordered and our plans to stay for the evening, to no avail. I was again told: “I’ll let it slide this time, just don’t let it happen again.” I was very upset. I packed my belongings and left. On my way down the stairs to leave, I noticed our waiter headed back upstairs empty handed, clearly expecting us to have been asked to leave. I was so upset, I forgot to grab my food as I left with my head hung in shame. Miss Janet, if you ever read this, please know that I am very deeply hurt. I wish you well.

Good food. Good service. My godson loves the PB&J wings. My server, Cassie, was awesome! She even posed for a pic with my godson.

Went there with my son. Good food and large portions. Would be nice if they had child size portions on the menu but otherwise a great experience.
