Our programs focus on the watershed management activities that help keep people and their property safe from flooding and erosion.

Story

With its unique resources, the Niagara Peninsula is one of the most complex watersheds in the Province. It includes lands drained by the Niagara River, Twenty Mile Creek, the Welland River, the Welland Canal, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.Located between two Great Lakes and transversed by the Niagara Escarpment, the Niagara Peninsula has truly unique climatic and biotic zones that are unlike anywhere else in North America.

Our programs focus on the watershed management activities that help keep people and their property safe from flooding and erosion.

Mission

The legislative mandate of the Conservation Authority, as set out in Section 20 of The Conservation Authorities Act, is to establish and undertake programs designed to further the conservation, restoration, development and management of natural resources. The NPCA fulfills this mandate by implementing programs that:

Improve the quality of lands and waters
Contribute to public safety from flooding and erosion
Provide for the acquisition of conservation and hazard lands
Enhance the quality of life in its watershed by using its lands for recreation, heritage preservation and conservation education

"The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority NPCA is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management. The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario and manages 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. I shared my concerns about the four Mile Creek dam affecting spawning of local salmon and getting caught in the dam. I received a very jaded response that this is how it's been since the 60's when the dam was built and it is what it is. That is not a sufficient answer for what is supposed to be a local conservation authority. Very disappointing first experience with them and I can see why they have a 2.7 star review. Niagara has a dim future with this group of "I could care less" mentality.
I Love Being part of NPCA by buying a hunting permit to hunt different locations, and this year my younger son who is 13 just received his Hunting license So we will both be hunting and enjoying these properties full of different critters .... Again NPCA, thanks for everything you do ....
They never return calls, never in the office. Terrible. If I could give less I would
