Came across this restaurant while in the plaza and decided to try it out. I have no regrets! The food was fresh and flavourful. I asked for the curry to be less spicy as I can’t handle so much spice and it was still delicious! The cook came to us and asked if the spice level was okay and I really appreciated that! The hostess was also very friendly and ensured we enjoyed our meal. The portions were good enough to keep you full! I will definitely be coming back.
This place is a hidden gem. John Ah Lung – the restaurant owner – is passionate about food and enthusiastic about preparing good food with their guests. Excellent curry and dim sum dishes. MSG is not used in their dishes. Our curry was prepared by John Ah Lung, the restaurant owner. It was very flavourful and the right amount of spiciness. John does not use corn starch to prepare the sauce – hence, it is good until the past drop. Simply cannot find the same quality curry elsewhere. Their dim sum dishes are prepared by an 82 year old in-house dim sum chef. All are prepared using traditional methods – hence, very good quality that you cannot find elsewhere. Especially outstanding are the Fish and Shrimp Siu Mai, Shrimp Spring Rolls, and Rice Noodles. Please note that the Rice Noodles are only available on Saturday and Sunday before 16:00.
Updated review The flavors here are addicting to say the least as I find myself visiting multiple times in a week since original review, trying different items on the menu. There's an assortment of foods such as dim sum, Thai, Chinese and other styles.... All done to a high standard. The curry beef brisket is mesmerizing, the flavor being addictive and hooking you in for another bite. The dim sum here is one of the best you can find in the GTA and they even have a dim sum lunch combo with assorted items to try out. Items that also stood out were the deep fried menu items such as the deep fried squid and chicken wings, they are extremely crispy with done with a light batter. Nothing felt greasy at all. The wait staff here are all very attentive and friendly, eager to guide you through the menu items listed. I'd recommend anyone to try this place out Original review - Newly opened restaurant in this area with a menu listing a wide variety of dishes of different Asian origins. Interior is quite spacious. Tried the Hainanese chicken rice from the lunch menu and it came with a drink.
This is our new Must-go restaurant for Asian cuisine including Thai, Cantonese and Sichuan food. It is authentic and so yummy! They are also passionate in fusion and creating unique dishes. Not to mention the 5-star service!
2 things that I came here for. The all day dim sum and the Royal curry. The Royal curry had such a distinct flavour that is unique to a curry. I can’t quite put a peg in it, but if there is one dish to get, this is it! The dim sum has a nice little platter available that has a little bit of different types of dim sum. So you want variety, this comes platters dim a bamboos steamer with all kinds of dim sum goodies. Service was awesome and even from friends and family that have visited have said the service was impeccable! Great job overall! A new restaurant that has recently opened up, Naomi has an extensive menu of popular Cantonese dishes and dim sum they offer it all day!! The interior has a cozy setting, and definitely different from your typical Chinese restaurant. Our servers were very helpful and did tell us ahead of time that the restaurant is still in soft opening, so there are things that had to be finished setting up. We ordered a couple of main courses, and drinks. All the dishes tasted fantastic, but what stole my heart was definitely the Satay Beef Noodles!! Usually you would get this dish as a soup noodle, but here, it’s different. I loved how flavourful it was, and the slight spicy kick it had! When we came, we had most of the restaurant to ourselves. However, it was slowly getting busier which is fantastic for a new restaurant - we went during an off hour too! IG: Ayenomz
This restaurant left me feeling so happy and welcomed. Our server Johnson was great with recommending and encouraging us to try new asian dishes. As someone that loves exploring new flavours, I really appreciated his help. The portions are large, and the ingredients are fresh. The chefs are skilled and don't drown their dishes with sauces. After somehow managing to eat everything, I found out that there were also delicious desserts made from fresh fruit. It's a new item made by the sweet hostess, Pat, and it isn't on the menu yet. She uses fresh fruit to make frozen popsicle sticks. I tried mango, mandarin and watermelon. Each had their own unique flavour. For example mandarin had a hint of zest in it! But the mango was easily my favourite. I embarrassingly completely forgot to take a picture after I ate them all. Oops! I'm hoping to be back very soon!
Came to this restaurant after seeing DK Lo's recommendation for the cantonese chow mein, cause I like cantonese chow mein, having grown up in an area where there was basically only cantonese restaurants when it came to chinese food. The restaurant is very spacious with simple aesthetics compared to somewhere like congee queen. Tables are very wide; plenty of room to put their massive dishes. Menu is huge and all over the place. There's the regular menu, and then a lunch menu, afternoon tea break menu, all day dimsum menu, and random stuff handwritten on board. You know just like what you would expect at a Cantonese place like house of gourmet or congee queen. Something for everyone right? We got the Cantonese chow mein, finger licking fried chicken breast, and a dimsum special that was written on a board The chow mein was large, with lots of ingredients and crispy noodles. At $18.95 it might be a bit pricey but I think the portion makes up for it compared to other places. The fried chicken is $16 for two pieces. It's basically like what you would get at Hot Star or Monga: a huge breast that's battered and fried. The meat is incredibly juicy and flavourful, with a light and crispy batter. Fresh off the fryer so it's very hot. The dimsum combo is interesting. For $14, you basically get an assortment of dimsum items, kind of like a tasting set. It's pretty good if you have no idea what dimsum is, or you wanted to sample a few items. Finally, I saw these white bear ice cream bars from Dk Lo's story and he said they might have some leftover, and they did offer some. Quite tasty. Very light and creamy. A nice place for a meal. Probably will take a while just to get through their menu.
Nostalgic feel of Hong Kong style dim sum We went there on a hot & humid Saturday afternoon for brunch. Unfortunately the air con was broken. So the manager Pat made sure the portable fans could provide good ventilation and immediately gave us 10% off the bill. She said they had already ordering the parts to get the air con fixed so it shouldn't affect their business for long. We ordered the dim sum combo, their special rice noodle rolls with shrimp & BBQ pork, tropical fried rice with seafood & pineapple and the stir fried ho-fun with stewed beef brisket. All the foods were tasty & cooked to perfection with the fresh ingredients. I like especially the HK style dim sum which was made by a 80-year old experienced dim sum chef from HK that you can't find easily in Toronto. The taste of the dim sum gave me the nostalgic memories of my childhood when I had dim sum with my parents back in the old days in HK. That experience is priceless. Before we left, Pat also gave us the free dessert which was a freezer pop made with real pear juice. We will come back to try their signature deep fried chicken wing & squid next time.
Absolutely delicious!!! The squid tentacle is amazing. Char Siu was soo savory. My son doesn't usually eat it and we couldn't keep up putting it on his plate. The staff is soo friendly and you can tell the passion they have not only for cooking but sharing their experiences!!! This is one of those hidden gems!!! You gotta try it!!!
