Multnomah County Library - Midland

I freaking love the library..all those books sitting on the shelf looking smarter than me allow me to be smug to you. So many different ways to advance intelligence, community, communications, and self. Today's libraries contain much more than just books. You can find music discs and downloads, Movies in many different types such as DVD, and online downloadable content. Many computers free for the general public to use, some with internet, others with office software necessary for today's students or business oriented persons. Most libraries offer language courses and computer understanding classes. Many have extra curricular type programs that offer fun and entertainment with a share of education. Also, if you want to smoke whatever there's a park in the back that should be more than adequate.

Great place for computer access, wifi, and of course a great selection of books (pretty much the basics of a library). First time impression is a good one. The layout of the place is clean and orderly. It's fairly easy to find what you are looking for. Also, there is plenty of sitting space and tables available for use.

Great for what it is, but unfortunately overflowing with tweakers and seemingly loitering homeless people. Hosted a study group there and had to leave because at least 3 street people were making the group feel uncomfortable. Seems to be somewhat of a rest stop for homeless.

The library is always lovely, but the neighborhood, and neighboring park has been trashed (liter-ally) by homeless people.
