MukJa Korean Cuisine & YeonTan DonGa Korean BBQ

Story

Mukja Korean Restaurant is part of JUNGJIC Enterprises Ltd. Portion of all profit derived from JUNGJIC Enterprises Ltd. will be used to help our society.

Our very first restaurant in Vancouver is set for opening in mid-March, 2017 (official opening date TBD). Mukja Korean Cuisine will be the newest addition to Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood, and it will be the only restaurant in Kitsilano that specializes in fusion-Korean cuisine. The word “Mukja” is Korean word for “Let’s Eat!”, and we will be serving both traditional and fusion dishes that are very popular in Korea right now. You will be able to find some familiar Korean dishes and some unique dishes that are new to Vancouver’s dining scene and we are very excited to introduce them to you. We will be opening until late on Fridays and Saturdays, so Mukja can be your new weekend gathering place with your friends and family. The best part? Mukja will be a franchise restaurant and we will shortly be opening our second location in another neighborhood in Metro Vancouver, so stay tuned!

Just went there with my friend! We ordered the budae hotpot with two free rice and soy garlic fried chicken... the portion was really good and we both really like their tastes! The hotpot was spicy enough and the soy garlic fried chicken tastes a little bit sweet! They also have barbecues and some other special cuisines such as cheesy coins... Definitely will go there again! [Edit My friends and I went there again yesterday and we tried the spicy and sweet chicken pot with the Joo-mok Bap!!]
Seriously, the portions are so small for the prices! Especially the hot pan with cheese! It was probably abt 1/4 of normal size in Korea or 1/2 of other local Korean restaurants that serve the same dish! Kamjatang pork rib potato soup portion was a joke! Their large = normal small! Taste wise, good! Don’t think we’ll go back as really felt overcharged!
Food here is delicious. But a little on the pricy side for what u get. We ordered a spicy fire chicken and it was 36 bucks and hardly any chicken in it. The teokbokki was more worth it but still on the pricy side. Chicken wings were good too. Service was good but for some reason the place just isn't lively. They should put up more decor or pictures/paintings. Overall it was ok but I wouldn't come back here again bcus of the price.
A Korean restaurant in Kitsilano? Mind blown... gotta try it out I thought. It looked pretty busy as I passed it in the middle of the night. Packed with university students, I thought that would be a sign of value. Determined to give this place a try I visited at the next opportune moment for lunch over the weekend. It was much quieter during the day, a couple of young families were having lunch and it contrasted the evening group. Maybe students opt for more vale based meals during thr day or they simply starve? Once in it starts becoming apparent that this establishment is more of place for evening fueled by beer and entertainment than its dining experience. The beer special and amount of alcohol posters gave that away. It feels like we're having lunch at the pub. Their offering was sparse and not conducive to a family brunch. A review of their menu shows food that would go great with a pitcher, something similar to the idea of nachos for lunch but in this case it's a rib platter on melted cheese like a fondu with beef ribs haphazardly placed on top. Fried chicken wings were next on the menu. The only indication of lunch is the rameun which no less taste like it was fresh out of the package. They serve kim bop as well with different protien options. As the food is served we became a little more disenchanted. From a service perspective, the manager tried his best to keep it as professional and accommodating as possible; the server, not so much. If she had the same level of enthusiasm or at least trainning as the manager things would have at least ended up with a better review and rating. Coles note: Good as a pub not so great as restaurant. Don't expect too much service.
This place was ok. We ordered BI bim bap, chicken cheese, and spicy wings. Overall the BI bim bap and chicken wings were bland. The chicken cheese dish was fine. Service was good, staff were friendly but this place was nothing special food wise, would likely not return unless a friend was keen on trying out the place.
We were having a party with 15 people there, but their menue is limited. And the fryer was broken that day so that we cannot order any fried chicken. It's tasty but pretty slow. We wait about one hour to have all the dishes.
We went as group of five people after doing a grueling hike. We were crazy hungry and at such a condition any food you get feels heavenly. So I will not comment on the food much. Just to do a justice to the review I can summarize that food will not disappoint you. However something that will make you to fall in love with the place is their impeccable service. The passionate greetings, personal touch, the thrive to create a great experience for a customer despite the issues that may come in the way, are beyond any praise. Keep it up! Pro tip: Even the complementary side dish was also yummy!! Save a space for that.
So curious I decided to try this new restaurant on West Broadway.. Mukja means Let's Eat in Korean language . The draw is the marinated pork ribs cheese in hot cast iron. Lots of cheese. There ramyun that came 3 cold and on the side of hot pot the cream corn, mash potato, tomato sauce and egg omelette. The rice fried in the pot with the left over cheese. This is a very reasonable dinner for two people and the staff all very gracious and accommodating.
Great atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and the food was great. Chicken was a bit salty but once rice was added in, the taste was perfect. The dish, however, was a bit pricey paid around $20/ person for just this dish. We originally wanted korean fried chicken but they were sold out that day. I understand that this can happen but the staff didn't tell us until we wanted to order it. It would've been nice to have been told before deciding!
It was great dining experience. Service was good. Food was fresh and tasty. Definitely, trending Korean BBQ place.
