Mugshots is a small downtown Albany coffee shop. I have been going there for a few years for the good coffee, great prices, and excellent service. The staff is always pleasant, serving with a smile and often a story. I have heard great things about their lunch offerings and the extensive menu certainly looks great for sandwiches/salads, but I have yet to indulge, so I can't share my opinion.

Never went there. But I heard that the coffee and donuts are much better than dunking donuts and made everyday fresh. Little pricey

One of my favorite places to go for lunch. The salads/sandwiches are fresh and made to order and giving a generous amount of meat, vegetables and dressings.

Today was the second (and last) time I will set foot inside this establishment. The first time, I tagged along with colleagues because I heard they had a great menu (they have quite a bit to choose from!) and wanted to check it out. We were the only ones there. While I was checking out the menu, I told my colleagues that I would be interested in trying some of their tiems, and then I could Yelp about it. The woman in the hat (one of the owners, no less) snapped at me, saying that Yelp was so terrible and people lied and it was worthless and blah blah blah. She went on and on for a bit, and I'll admit, I was slightly taken aback. I don't think I have ever heard an owner talk like that to a customer - you'd think they'd be friendly and value your business. There was another woman working, I think she may have been an owner also? She was friendly and personable - how a business owner should be. So that was my first experience with MugShots a few weeks ago. Fast forward to today: I went in around lunch time, and there was a line out the door. Two women were holding the door open, waiting outside, then as we walked up, they stepped inside. It was my turn to hold the door, and someone from inside snapped at me, to close the door. OK, fine. I didn't know, and had no issue waiting outside, so I closed the door. Meanwhile, people were coming up to me, asking if I was waiting - I told them yes, but the door had to be kept closed (it was a warm day, and their A/C was on). I got to get my vitamin D while waiting - score! A few minutes passed, 3 people came out, so I stepped inside, and to the woman waiting behind me, I quipped, "make sure you keep the door shut, don't want to get yelled at again" with a wink and a smile. Well, the rude owner heard me, and snapped, "uh, I wasn't yelling, I just don't feel like wasting my money" with this nasty attitude. That was it for me. I said, "ok, fine", turned around, and walked out. My colleague and I just looked at each other; she was just as shocked as I was. It's sad this is one of the owners, too. It's the same one that snapped at me a couple weeks ago during my first experience here. Working with the public, AND AS A BUSINESS OWNER, you would think she would have good customer service - I even tried chalking her behavior up to a bad day, but no - this was just her "charming" demeanor. I told my colleagues about my experience who chuckled and stated that yes, she had lousy people skills and lacked customer service. They also had this nickname for her. I thought maybe it was just me, but I found reviews on other platforms that had similar (or worse) experiences here. I do my best to be fair and unbiased with my review, but there was no resuscitating this experience. Unfortunately, the way she spoke to me was demeaning and rude, so I will not be recommending this establishment. Clearly she does not value my business.
