Beautiful, serene and peaceful. The tranquil resting grounds of the deceased. Our family enjoys walking here during the transition of the seasons, or during Fall. Photos don't really capture the unparalleled beauty of the changing colors of Fall..
Beautiful views of the north shore mountains. Nice place to go for a quiet walk. Looks different but stunning in every season.
You could find very old gravestones, maintained and kept neatly. There’s so much life over there, great view when I visited during summer, and I’m sure it will be pretty amazing during fall.
I love Mountain View Cemetery and I walk and run with my dogs on leash daily and remember those that have passed. Today at 8.45 am I was doing my usual walk on the public paths and I was blocked on by a staff member and abusive words were said to me and threatening body language. I could not see what he was doing until I was right up to him he was placing a plaque on the wall and there was no sign saying path closed. I went to the office to share what happened as I was really upset and felt threatened. The General Manager greeted me and I explained what happened and he scoffed at me and said he is doing an "internment", it is an active cemetery and now you know you should just avoid staff as he was putting ashes to an enclosed place. He said lots of other condescending things. He would not listen or take on any of my suggestions. I said I did not know this was going on it would be really helpful to put up a sign to explain what is going on and close the pathway to protect staff and also educate the public. He just said there are general signs saying this is an active cemetery and staff are at work. I tried to explain again that when important work like an "internment" are going on the pathway should be closed. He also went on how people in general are disrespectful to the cemetery using it for recreation. I would like to point out the General Manager actively rents it out to movie productions - I think that is a lot more disrespectful than walking your dog daily in the cemetery to enjoy the day and pay your respect to all those that have passed. A very very upsetting experience. I love the cemetery but and it is a very loved space in Vancouver to remember so many people who have fought for our country and loved ones. But the General Manager is very disrespectful that this is a public place and he has a delicate and important role to make sure the space is respected for those that have passed, protect his working staff and protect and educate the public. I would not chose to be buried or remembered at this cemetery with such a disrespectful General Manager in place. Shame.
Beautiful, peaceful, respectful and wonderful community events. This place is also full of facinating Vancouver history.
A beautiful and peaceful place. The war memorials are special places, these are true Canadian Heroes.
It is a nice cemetery where my sister was laid to rest. I visit her columbaria almost every week and bring a bunch of flowers. Most often, when I come back the next week, the flowers are in another columbaria! The residents might be dead, but the flowers come alive!
Went to check out World War 1 and World War 2 war graves to pay respect, well laid out Lest we forget
Beautiful and well kept cemetery. I am here on a daily basis to spend time with a lost loved one. This is not a park or a place to take a leisurely bike ride, a jog, a stroll or to walk your dog. People’s loved ones are buried here to Rest In Peace. Please be respectful and consider not treating this area as a park. Yesterday I saw someone using the grounds to learn how to drive. They had an L on the back of their car and were doing rounds throughout the cemetery grounds before venturing out onto the road with their “teacher” in the car. It was very upsetting. I’m sure many people don’t intentionally mean to be disrespectful but please consider that it can come across that way. There is plenty of parks and other scenic routes in the city. Use them and not the cemetery.
I think it is a beautiful cemetery. It's a great place to walk through and they have a nice section for those who have fallen fighting for our freedom. I would imagine if someone wants to be buried in Vancouver that they would like being laid to rest in such a panoramic atmosphere. Obviously, like the name states, there are mountain views and one of the best views in the city. It always looks good because it is always maintained.
