Hiked Race Brook Falls with a lap around the pond and lucky enough to witness the handiworkof a beaver. Great day, great hike.
made a unplanned stop here 10/17/18 after going to sunset rock summit. i am sure glad i did. they have this gorgeous little pond guilder pond with a hiking trail. it has little 2 car parking area that has a picnic table and grill. at the main parking lot you do have a bathroom and you can pick up the Appalachian trail. if you follow the south entrance trail or follow the road it will take you to a scenic view and lean-to. my suggestion for a great foliage day trip would go to the sunset rock summit, then come here to the pond & scenic spot and have a picnic lunch. then go to bash bish falls. this would make for a awesome family day trip or a very nice romantic day. i would like to come back here to see what more the park has to offers but what i have seen so far this was well worth the stop. don't miss out.
Beautiful area to visit especially in the fall. Nice scenic roots definitely recommended.
An awesome hike. Trails with challenges leading to Fantastic views over the valley. And decent primitive campground. Love coming back every year.
Wow that was quite a hike! Submitted Mt Alander and back. I sure the fresh snow didn't help but sure made it pretty.
Great hike up the mountain, A bit strenuous up hill but gorgeous views !
Great fall. Fairly crowded in the summer time but that's expected. They have a couple of different locations you can swim in and enjoy the water. Police are usually at the scene.. You can view the fall from a distance or walk down closer for a good photo. Lovely fall but a bit smaller than what I was expecting.
Easy parking off off Rt 41 - arrive early, less of a chance that you would have to park across the street in a no parking area. Moderate hike to Race Brook Falls. Beautiful tree covered trail. Well marked. After visiting the falls take a longer hike to the top to enjoy a sweeping vista of the surrounding Berkshire area. Hike was taken in early April. As the weather warms, be careful of snakes taking in the sun and warmth.
I went to find the waterfalls in Sage Ravine since New England waterfalls rates them #1 in CT. Well after 3 miles once in the ravine I found nothing to speak of. Realizing reality I had to hike those 3 miles out, I turned around. I wouldn't call it a waste of time and energy since I did find several smaller falls but I'd never put myself through this for what I found. Also trails are poorly marked and I went close to a mile out of my way and had to back track. I then find out reaching said falls requires one to bushwack off the beaten trails but it helps knowing where your going. Plus at this time of year good chance there's no water falling. In so far as it's not rained in months. Never again. There are plenty of waterfalls far easier reaching which are very beautiful.
Started at 7:30 am. Great hike to the falls, then to summit of Everett. Not for everyone with snow on the ground. Just use caution. I can't wait for spring so I can bring my wife!
