Moosilauke Ravine Lodge

About

Rustic Mountain Accommodations;
Famous for Fine Food!

Story

Rustic Mountain Accommodations:

The Moosilauke Ravine Lodge was raised up in the late 1930s to serve some of the nation’s earliest competitive skiing. Today the Lodge provides a destination for the area and the entire Dartmouth community and the Upper Valley. The Lodge is open to the public for rooms and meals as well as events!

Hearty Meals:

The Lodge’s friendly and hard-working crew of students and recent alums serves up hot breakfasts and multi-course dinners from the Lodge’s cookbook, family-style in the Lodge’s main room.

Rustic Lodging:

The Lodge’s guest rooms and the outlying bunkhouses can sleep groups from two to twelve. Showers and toilets are in the main building and common rooms are heated by massive old fieldstone fireplaces.

Setting:

The Lodge is a wonderful place to bring budding outdoor enthusiasts on their first adventures — with the promise of a hot shower, a hearty meal, and a cozy bed at day’s end. Over thirty miles of hiking trails connect the Lodge to Mount Moosilauke’s summit and trailheads, ranging from easy woods-walks to boulder-clambering ascents. For those interested in volunteer trail maintenance, a one-night stay at the Lodge is rewarded for every day of trailwork.

Retreats:

Because of its size, location and services, many groups use the Lodge for retreats and conferences. The main room and the conference spaces are available for student and alumnae/i groups for getaways and reunions, and for academic classes, offices and programs, for retreats, lectures, and conferences. The Lodge crew can also provide meals and snack breaks for groups.

Programming:

Many weekend evenings see special events hosted at the Lodge, including music, storytelling, dances, or presentations. If you have an idea for a special program, or want to schedule something extra for your group, contact the Lodge Manager. Some examples are: Live Music, Singalongs, Contradances, DOC Film Screenings, etc.

Welcome All!

The Lodge isn’t just for the Dartmouth community — local residents, hikers, and visitors to the area are all welcome to stay for a night, a week, or just to come up for dinner. The Lodge is a great place to just get away and put your feet up.

We hope you’ll come stay with us soon!

The lodge is undergoing a complete renovation and is not open at this time. What an incredible location at the base of Mount Moosilauke for hiking, skiing, and just being far away from it all.

Great food, great company, incredible ambiance. Can't wait to hang out in the new structure (It's under construction until Fall 2017).

Our Daughter and 'soon-to-be" Son-in-law chose the Ravine Lodge as the site for their wedding and the experience could not possibly have been better (from the Bride's family perspective). The setting was fantastic (although we had a long history with Mount Moosilauke & The Ravine lodge). The 2012 Crew could not have been more adaptive and pleasant, the setting was truly dramatic, the food was excellent and the overall personal experience (father of the Bride) was OUTSTANDING!! We: Roasted a pig on site, climbed the mountain, used the raised area below the Lodge as both ceremony seating (lodge benches) and a yard game arcade. We were lucky that the weather cooperated with the "outdoor" focus of this celebration, but the Lodge and cabins were heavily used as well (after parties and the like). The whole weekend was a complete success, including the 16 pc. marching brass band to escort the Bride in and the fireworks display after dark, part of a gift to the new Man & Wife. We would highly recommend The Lodge to anyone looking to have a back-to-simplicity celebration in the White Mountain National Forrest. The majesty of Mountain and Forrest, combined with the Lodge Crew's exceptional efforts to make IT happen (they joined in the marriage night Dinner and danced with us!), not to mention the Bread Board & Bowl and wooden spoon Fencing Challenge were all garnish on the overall experience. It was a wonderful exception to the 6 separate wedding reception establishments that we were SO trying to avoid ... and it worked beautifully. Just keep it small, because when the Ravine Lodge is full, Lincoln, NH is the closest night time layover, 12 mountain miles away. The facilities are a bit rustic, but that is in the nature of "Mountain Hospitality" at it's very best. Drive-in accessibility is the BIG difference between The Ravine Lodge and camping or Hut jumping trip (and where would that leave the Brass Band and the convenience of not "Drive-in, not Hike-in celebration?
