After being extremely happy with our purchase of a prestige home almost 14 years ago, we are now finding out just what we bought as opposed to what we thought we were buying. After those 14 years, our roof is leaking in several places and the help I received from Prestige was pretty well non-existent. So much for shingles lasting 20-25 years!. Now, as we make arrangements for a new roof,, we find that where the roofwas hinged for transport, the shingles are all cracked. We also found that there is a distinct lack of tar paper in the same area. In addition, as we work on addressing our air exchanger in the house, we find that there were many vents that were never hooked up. So it is indeed a shame that a company which claims to build quality houses actually appears to build them to need major repairs after a relatively short period in terms of houses. My recommendation...look at other companies, and don't believe everything these folks tell you.
We decided to go with prestige because of the quality of their homes. I realize now the showhomes are where it stops. Besides thinking we were getting a prestige factory home we ended up with hired people from their sales companyoakhill homes and when it was time for year end fix ups lets just say we are going into our 3rd year and still awaiting on stuff to be fixed. I should clarify, we had to go above oakhill so prestige took some stuff into their own hands which at first we were very satisfied with until 3 or 4 attempts later we are still trying to get stuff right. Our most recent experience was in oct they fixed our countertop and transition strips only to come home and find out they installed the wrong profile and different colored strips. We emailed right away and was told they were ordering our stuff and see us in the new year. After several emails since the new year we attempted to call the office for someone higher up within mins we had a call from the original guy stating they would be here the following week. They came, but had no idea about replacing the counter tops used excuses that they misread our email and so on. Also our transition strips are now discontinued so we get the closest thing. We have to settle because of their mistakes. I could write forever on our issues but I just wanted to get it out there that what you see in showhomes is not the quality you get when you sign the contract for a purchase. During your walkthrough when you are told its a honeymoon phase so sign the paper and call them with things you find dont do it!
Never Again. Way too many problems to list. *Electrical panel has A LOT of condensation *Front door was flooding underneath *One year inspection was never done *We are going to have to pay an electrician to come in a re-wire the entire house, because of the electrical panel, light fixtures burning, and light switches blowing up. *We have to pay for someone to come in and fix the chimney, because although they stated it was wet certified, it is not. We had a professional over, and stated that it DOES NOT meet code. *Grading away from the house was not done properly, as a result, the water pools at one corner, and causes mold on the concrete in the basement. *In-proper insulation and vapor barrier, resulting in damaged window sills. NEED I GO ON ?? Extremely disappointing, and broker than broke. Lesson learned.
HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. !!!! We had them build our house last year and have had nothing but major issues and still fighting with them over these issues. ONCE THEY GET THEIR MONEY THEY DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT YOU AND YOUR HOUSE ISSUES Basement floor has huge cracks Roof leaks Foundation cracked and leaked Poured the basement concrete on frost Floor has buckeling in it Shingles blown off Shingles are lifted where house goes together Roof valleys are uneven Patch jobs in concrete where they mess up for water line Sold me discontinued flooring Siding issues Window issues Downspout issues Shower and tub issues Dug up my lawn to get the truck and house in the driveway and never came back to fix it
