Great place for Indian food and sweets. The sweets were on the lower side of sweetness, which is perfect for my taste. The Samosas were simple and on the lower end of spicy flavour, which is delicious for the kids. The prices were reasonable. There were several persons who walked in, but it better to order over the phone and come for pick up, if you are ordering a meal. Otherwise it will take some time. You can get it delivered with the leading food delivery apps. Done in option is also available. Will definitely be visiting more frequently.
I got a aloo paratha and asked it to be spicy there were no aloo to be seen in the paratha and the crushed pepper were jus dumped in it. And its not paratha more like tandoor roti. Asked for ilachi chai its good but too strong. Samosa and pakora are good but pakora are better is fresh the one i got were cooked a day before seemed like it coz i have had thr fresh ones too. Mithai is good.
Update - came back here few days after labour day for more samosas and sweets. The samosas are now $0.75 cents each …. Ordered 1lb of motichoor ladoo- it was good. So came here because I have heard a lot about this place through others - aunties in the area of course : ** there was no halal signs so cannot confirm if the meat was halal and I only ordered vegetarian. So - I ordered 10 samosas. 2 Chanda Bhatoora. 0.5lbs of mixed barfi. Bill was $25 The samosas - pretty darn good. Will highly recommend. The barfi - was just okay. Maybe a little overly sweet for my taste. But my parents loved it. Overall, Neither so great neither so horrible. I mean for $10/lb maybe I was expecting more? Now these channa Bhattura - hardest review to explain. I personally did not like the Channas. They have this different taste that I could not acclimate myself too. BUT the parents Loved it ‍ they enjoyed having that different unique masala taste. Maybe hence all the auntie referrals! Bhattura were fresh but oily. Honestly - they should have samplers out front lol The store also sells a lot of items on the side - I was going to grab a few but when asked they seem more expensive compared to just picking them up from another store. Ex. Pani poori box was $5.00. I can buy the exact same box. Same brand. Same size from Indian grocery for $2.50. There are barely any prices on the items so you gotta ask. Location was clean. It was busy. Initially the customer service wasn’t that great. Just too busy and trying to accommodate. I made my order first but wasn’t served first. But then once My order was completed. The individual did apologize. So I do appreciate it.
The best place in Toronto for Bengali sweets. Every time I am in North York, I stop by here for samosa and chai. The savouries are always fresh. The thing to die for is their sweet selection, everyone is a fan of this small restaurant in North York. There is always thali. The place serves killer Indian thali at affordable prices. The service is fast & quick. A small dining area to help you savour the food. They also have good selection of gravies and sides for take away. They also sell pickles and other snacks.
The chicken curry and naan was amazing but I wish they had a better customer service. They have a dining space but no water to offer. The place was not as hygienic either, especially to have food. Went there to have the thali experience but would not go there again for the dining experience.
It was a nice quiet place. The salted lassi was amazing. My search for authentic chole bathure is still on. This one was great but was more like home made, not the thick dark gravy chole with potato and cheese chunks In it . They have some great Indian snacks including samosas, Spinach fritters and more. If in the area you must give a visit.
Went to Mistaan a few weeks ago on a weekend to order some food for lunch with my family. We have been going to Mistaan for more than 15 years now, but this weekend we tried to order something new. I have a food allergy which is deadly and always make sure to ask wherever I go the ingredients of the food I am ordering. I asked the girl at the counter the ingredients of the one food item that we ordered to ensure there was no nuts or lentils, since I am allergic. The female staff member assured us there were no lentils or nuts in the products we ordered when I asked as well as when my family member asked separately. When I got home and had the food I had a severe food reaction, and had to go to the hospital. We were notified that my reaction was to the lentils in the food product. When my family member called l and tried to confront them that they gave wrong information, one of the owners who picked up the phone screamed at my relative that they were lying and that staff had told us there were lentils and then hung up. That owner at Mistaan shows no compassion and is just too focused on making money. My family, and I who were once loyal customers to Mistaan will not ever be returning. If you have a severe food allergy, please do not order food from Mistaan. They will lie to you about the ingredients just to make a sale and apparently do not care about the well-being of their customers.
Never knew they were there, drove by many times. A friend recommended this place and is great. Went for samosas, great price and the man that served me was pleasant. Did not try anything else, but will come back for our samosa cravings. Vegetarian options: No meat in samosas. Parking: Lots of free parking.
I bought Samosas from here. I was told they have no chutney. The shop owner recommended that I buy bottled chutney. Chola bhathuras were sub standard. Chana sweet and no pickles with it. I don’t think I would go there again. They really should improve their food and service if they want repeated customers.
Best samosa. The veg thali is filling and delicious. Also took alu tikki. Jalebis are crispy. Tasty yummy food. Just a request..Pl give chutney even if in the small container...you can add the overall price in your food. Without chutney...pudina or khajur...the food is incomplete...like in dhokla need the papaya or dhaniya chutney...please serve chutney. I bet it won't cost a lot if added to overall costs. Think think think.
