Small restaurant but excellent food. Went there late night on NYE. Was a little sceptical but the sweet lady at the restaurant made us feel warm and at home. We ordered Johnny wrap..mutton curry with parotha..chicken murtabak.. chicken kothu..chilli chicken kothu and mutton roll. Everything was delicious especially the mutton curry. A must visit in Scarborough.
As a Singaporean, I first doubted the authenticity of the neighbouring Malaysian cuisine served here, due to the dubious naming of the restaurant and the extremely “diverse” options on the menu. However, after learning that the owner is indeed a Malaysian himself, I knew I had to give them a chance. To test it out, I went ahead with the Roti Canai/Prata option, along with a side of chicken curry default combo back home. I was surprised that at a price of $3 Egg + $1.50 Plain + $2.50 for curry, I did get taken back home with the very authentic crispiness, slight flakiness and flavoursome curry burst in my mouth. With the dimly lit interior and slightly outdated furniture stacked inside, the sight of the eatery might not be aesthetically pleasing to many but don’t let that fool you from the food that is served here. Dining-in is not an option at the moment, so I got to take-out with some disposable plates provided by the friendly lady who took my order and handled the cashier. Nevertheless, the strong stench that I suspect to be coming from the adjacent fish & meat store, can be extremely overpowering. It’s such a pity that the restaurant has to face the end of the strong stench, despite them serving some aromatic flavoursome food. I will definitely return to try their Mee Goreng and other Malaysian dishes in the near future, when I am in the area. I strongly hope that the issue of the stench gets fixed and dining in becomes an option by then, the latter being my only reason for not giving it 5 starts.
I've been here dozens of times and they never disappoint. I highly recommend their chicken curry and garlic chicken. You can eat inside, but most people order takeout.
we had mutton kottu rotty, chicken nasi goring, hot n sour soup, chilli chicken kottu rotty and they were really good. The service was friendly, and the wait was ten minutes.
Food is pretty good. Reasonably priced. The front entrance looks pretty ghetto as it's not very clean and frankly don't open wide enough. Going inside, the lights are a bit dim. Foodwise, it's pretty good and has some unique flavors. The chef I'm told is Malaysian, the cashier who's also a helper seems Filipino. The mee goeng noodles are pretty good. Quite flavourful. The mutton curry portions are quite good.. a little gamey but ok. The chicken pakora is ok too.. though the chicken pieces varied in size. Price to portions to flavors, it's not bad.
We have been to this place 2 years back approx.. Food quality n taste was way better back then.. Ordered take out from this place yesterday and found it quite disappointing.. We had Chilli Chicken gravy not in usual chinese style though, chicken was hard, no enough gravy for the complimentary rice given, Mutton Murtabak mutton did not smell good, Chilli Chicken Kothu Parotta Good enough. Overall, I would say it was okay.
Love this place. Fantastic, fresh food at probably the most reasonable price. Please don’t expect chicken to be cooked to perfection at 165 degrees, it’s a cheap, fast eatery so evaluate it at that standard. What’s important is that the two key people the older gentleman and the asian lady are very friendly and hard working and put passion into the food. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Surprisingly good. The outside doesn't look like much but the food speaks for itself. The food is great and reminds me of growing up in Singapore. Also a lot cheaper than the other Malaysian restaurants.Food: 5/5
I was craving for murtabak that I got to try at the Cabbagetown festival where I was unable to experience the amazing taste of it again, until I came to this little restuarant. They fortunately close late 1am so we came around 11:30pm and dined in. The lady at the cashier was so sweet as we came from downtown to just try their food, and it was not to disappoint. She questioned where I heard of murtabak and that typically only Malaysians seem to order it and warned me it’s not the typical murtabak I may be accustomed to. But that didn’t stop me haha! The spices and aroma of the food was there and you can instantly smell how delicious your first bites was going to be. My partner and I ordered the chicken murtabak and beef fried rice and all the bites were scrumptious! It was a satisfied craving where we will order for pickup next time as we were acquainted by noisy guests where it was difficult to really enjoy the food with loud chatting & sort of making a scene as they were drunk. Other than that my boyfriend and I will be back to purchase for pick up as the food was aromatic and delicious, truly relived my childhood experience trying murtabak at the festival :
Very very very strong flavours! Tasted ok! the restaurant smells bad- not sure if it’s due to the fish stall next to it or the restaurant itself. Lost my appetite after going in there for take away.! The couple who owns and serve there are very sweet. The 3 stars are only for that…
