Mike's Donuts and Chicken

The chicken is good but the donuts are average. Maybe my view on their donuts are coming from the fact that I've had voodoo donuts, Lee's donuts, glazed and infused, etc so Mike's aren't that spectacular in my book. The last two donut I had from Mike's was dry with very little flavor. Contrast that with their chicken which was moist, flavorful and not greasy. I'll be going back just for the chicken. Food prices are on the edge of overpriced and don't get me started with their menu. What a pile of confusion... Hard to follow and the layout feels like it was someone's first design assignment. Also, beware that what they state as ingredients on their menu is not what is in your food. If you have any concerns in terms of food sensitivities make sure you ask. I ordered a jelly donut martini. It tasted like the yogurt drink yo-j (yummy). Ingredients listed were 3 olives cake vodka, blueberry puree and sprinkles. What I got was like I said looked and tasted so creamy. I asked the waitress and she listed off the ingredients but also added whipping cream. Funny that wasn't on the ingredient list. Lactose sensitivity beware.

Made an order to go. Get home and the order is wrong and some items just taste bad. The sunshine shake (no alcohol) was no bueno. I don't know if they use a lemon oil or what, but it was really bad. I even tried adding lemon juice and it was still awful! The slaw had a little ting. I called them and they did offer to remake, but when you don't live close that doesnt work. The person wasn't rude, but didn't seem to care. When I said I couldn't come back, she ask me what I wanting them to do. I suggest having better responses for your customers. If I order again, I'll stick to chicken and fries and definitely check it b4 leaving.

The food is not good enough to make up for the slow and inattentive service. Unfortunately this was not a one time occurrence, it has happened each of the three times I joined friends here. Today we waited 45 minutes for our lunch and the waitress never once stopped over to refresh our drinks or mention reason for the delay. There were two servers and less than half the tables were occupied. The servers sat at a table together talking and only got up if new customers arrived or the food eventually was done in the kitchen. Once food was served, the server never returned to the table. We even had to chase her down to get our bill. My friends and I have all decided this place is not worth future visits.

Sitting at the upstairs bar. Nice environment. Friendly bartenders. Only problem is about 70% of time we are getting a wiff of air. This isn't just any air. This air is what we imagine a pair of George Washington's wooden dentures would smell like after drinking for 6 week's without a brush of the teeth.

We went on St Patrick's day, and were prepared to wait a bit. Wasn't too busy when we arrived, about 5:00, but it took 10 min for the waitress to show up, and that was only after we asked someone at the bar who our waitress was. Once the waitress showed up our service was pretty good, and we got drinks appetizers and dinner. The apps for okay, a little bit small. Dinner was good, very creative. Overall, it would have been nicer if we didn't have to ask for service, and when we were finished the waitress seem to push us out..
