I had such an amazing experience with Midwives Collective. Nicole was my midwife and she was excellent. She's very knowledgeable and informative. I really appreciate the personal connection she established with me; making me feel like she had my best interest at heart. I never felt like just a number. She was always so patient and caring. Leading up to my delivery, she was very attentive and readily available. She really made me feel comfortable and at ease during such a high stressed time. I would highly recommend her to any expecting parent.
I gave birth twice with the incredible support of midwives from this collective and truly can’t thank them enough. Through both pregnancies my partner and I felt 100% supported. I gave birth once at the birth centre and once at home and the midwives who were with us helped make both experiences incredibly safe. I feel like I’ve been spoiled for all future medical interactions because I’ve now seen what truly supportive, consent-based, queer-friendly care can look like. And I can’t overstate how amazing it is to have them come to your home for the first few appointments after the baby is born. Throughout both pregnancies the midwives who supported me were Nora, Emma, Vincia, Ruby, Carmen, and Tracey and I have nothing but deep admiration and gratitude for all of them.
I am extremely grateful to have been supported by Midwives Collective of Toronto throughout my pregnancy and post-partum. Robynn, Carmen, Virginia and Nora are super knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend Midwives Collective and could not have hoped for a better experience.
Maggie and Zuzanna were absolutely amazing so respectful and kind made my birth experience so pleasant I really can’t say enough they genuinely care about the baby’s and the mothers. Helping them enjoy birth as much as possible.
I had a wonderful experience during my pregnancy and postpartum care. Zuzana was an amazing midwife who is very knowledgeable and reliable. This was my first pregnancy and the reason I chose midwife care was because I had heard so many good things from friends. I'm glad I did since it is indeed a more personal approach to what can be a very nerve wracking journey. Zuzana guided me through everything with a warm approach which made my experience way easier and when taking care of my baby girl she did it with the greatest of care. Zuzana's guidance during the actual birth allowed me to manage the experience as naturally as possible. I don't know how I did it but having her support definitely played a huge part in it. My family is forever grateful to her for all that she did for us.
I am a past client of Tracey and Sonia's and had multiple students in my time there. Every experience and encounter I had with Tracy, Sonia, my students Anne, Coral and Spencer was so wonderful, as well as all the front desk staff and anyone I ran into in the halls! You're a very busy clinic, and I always felt like a priority. I always felt listened to. I always felt like my midwives had my back and were there to support ME and my choices. I always felt like my pregnancy mattered. I didn't realize how important these things were until my second pregnancy in a new city with a new clinic. Thank you for being an incredible team and making this crazy experience for parents a lot easier. Your professionalism and support is the bar I hold others accountable to.
Would highly recommend! Me and my partner had a great experience with Midwives Collective of Toronto. Our primary midwife was Emily Geens - who did excellent job and made sure we got the best care possible. She is not only a knowledgeable midwife but also very kind and caring person. I felt welcomed at every appointment I had, was never afraid to ask questions and never felt judged in any way. We had an induction scheduled at Mt. Sinai and Emily was with us the entire time - everything went great and baby arrived safely. I would’ve never thought that it could be such a stress free experience P.S. Looking back at it now I cannot imagine walking thought the pregnancy without MCT and especially Emily. Thank you for all the care and support you’ve provided!
I cannot express how grateful I am to the Midwives Collective of Toronto. Zuzana was the best midwife I could have ever asked for. She really truly went way way above and beyond in my care, my pregnancy and postpartum period. I was unhoused for the first three months I was with her, she was so supportive. I could really feel her love and passion for midwifery. In my mind she is the picture perfect midwife. She considered every single one of my wishes and I am an exceptionally picky, stubborn and specific person. I always felt safe and comfortable with her. She was my midwife back in 2016 and I still think of her several times a month all the way in 2021!! That is how much of an impact she made on my soul. Thank you Zuzana and the Midwives Collective of Toronto for such great memories!!!!!!!!
I am immensely grateful to have been a client of Robynn and Maggie. Their support and care during my pregnancy and postpartum period was outstanding. They are knowledgeable, kind and empathetic. Even during the pandemic when things had to be done a little bit differently, their support made me feel comfortable and confident making informed decisions about my care. I cannot say enough positive things about my care through the Midwives Collective and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Maggie and Robynn. Thank you!
Would not recommend this place from my personal experience, BUT I have had friends who have had VERY different experiences here and would recommend them. My midwife, Vincia, was scattered and I never felt a real connection from day one. Carmen, my second midwife, seemed wise and obviously had experience, but when I met her, I was going through a particularly difficult time with my partner, and I lashed out at our first appointment. I did apologize and tried to connect but never felt like she forgave me and definitely did not feel like she liked me after that. One of the requests in my birth plan was to have my mother present. When my parents came to the hospital which was a really big deal for my Dad - he doesn't travel anywhere, Carmen didn't allow them into the room to see me. Meanwhile, she let my mother-in-law, who had been really unpleasant and cruel to me up to that point, into the room. Furthermore, Vincia couldn't even figure out how dilated I was. Before going into the Toronto Birthing Centre, Vincia had told me I was 7 cm dilated. After being there for 15 hours, she told me I was actually only 3-4cm dilated and suggested we go to Mount Sinai. There are tons of other issues with the care she provided, and this is just one of those examples. My husband is an EMR and studying to be a paramedic. He ended up delivering our son along with our AMAZING STUDENT midwife Kat. Had it not been for her and my husband, I would have been a mess. Essentially, I lost so much blood, I should have been kept in hospital. When our son was born, he was not breathing. Despite this, they left him laying on my chest and then asked if my husband would like to cut the umbilical cord, to which he said "No - just take care of my son." Thankfully everything turned out okay and both myself and my son made it, but my recovery was extremely rough and I am working with a therapist to address PTSD from this experience. I KNOW that this outfit does have excellent midwives from what my friends have told me, but my experience was horrible and NOT acceptable. The shining star in the darkness was the student intern, Kat and of course, my husband, who was AMAZING from the moment I met her until our final appointment. This really makes me feel sad, because I had hoped to have a midwife for when we plan to have our second child, but all this has changed. That being said, the people at Mount Sinai are freakin' STELLAR and I plan on going with them and hiring a doula for my next pregnancy.
