First time trying Romanian food and gald to say it won't be the last. I tried the mici and sausage lollipop. Mici is incredibly juicy and flavorful, where as the lollipop is smoked pork deliciousness! This is my new favorite winter comfort food. Looking forward to trying the rest of menu. Ps: they have truffle salted fries
Fantastic food, soo happy there's a mititei joint on the Plateau to liven up the Montreal Romanian restaurant scene! Lamb and beef mici with truffle fries in a combo is a fantastic choice. You can either get mititei in a brioche bun with maple sauerkraut, which is what I recommend if discovering this delicacy for the first time, or have them naked with mustard, Romanian style. As a Romanian, I actually prefer them in a brioche, making me question my heritage. The service is really nice, the owners are very polite and chatty despite their clear fatigue busy joint, and we had a good time. Thanks to both owners, to your employees, and Godspeed to you. May you open another franchise eventually! Mouth-watering smell for a few dozen meters on Mont-Royal!
Being a Romanian, I can absolutely say that this joint is brilliant - the meat was cooked to perfection! Having Romanian mici fusioned with Poutine is absolutely brilliant and the result is a delicious dish. I recommend it wholeheartedly! The truffle fries are also amazingly delicious! We got our food to go so we could enjoy it on Mont Royal and it was great!
I saw google reviews written two-three weeks ago, so I believed that it must be opened at their working hours. Unfortunately, the door was locked for the first trial on Jan 22, and I thought it was closed somehow due to the long holiday they wrote that they are closing for christmas on the front door. For the second trial on Jan 29, I found the place is now for rent.. Yes I totally missed the chance to get their food..
Edit 2021-12-03 Thanks to the restaurant for answering. My aim isn’t to harm the business, I understand this is hard work. Seeing there are controls in place, I hope this doesn’t happen to no one else. Original review I was served raw minced pork as in my included pictures.
First time and loved it!!! If you wanna try something traditional from Easter Europe in Montreal this is a place. Mici is a roumanian specialty and done like this is amazing. You also get the Mont-Royal atmosphere with that.
Incredibly tasty skinless sausages, some of the best fries I've ever had, and really friendly staff make this tiny restaurant my instant favourite.
Growing up Romanian, mici was always a favorite when the grill was on There are a few places around Montreal where you can try them but nothing, I mean nothing compares to this place! Delicious and #juicyAF as they would say.
Unique concept and high quality food. The sliders were unlike anything I've ever had! During the time I went, they were super busy. They apologized for the wait and threw in some extra fries to thank me for my patience. Thing is, I didn't even wait a long time! Maybe 6-10 minutes at most. I wouldn't have minded even if I had to wait a long time, the food is that good. Just shows the respect that they have for their customers. They also have incredible taste in music, was enjoying the jams while I waited. I would highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of going.
The experience was mediocre, I had two mici sliders with the choucroute + mustard. The mici themselves were cooked in advance. The buns were stale. The truffle salt fries are good but once again they were cooked in advance and not fresh. I salute their initiative and wish them the best!
