Story

First and foremost, we are a green coffee importer and wholesaler. We specialize in sustainable single-origin coffees from around the world.

All of our coffees consist of 100% arabica beans, double-certified (Fair Trade & Organic). We purchase directly from independent coffee cooperatives, whenever possible, and we take our farmers' coffee to our local farmers' markets.

Located in an historic jam factory with a view of Toronto’s skyline, Merchants Cafe has an air of raw elegance. Coffee lovers can witness and learn about our passion (from roasting to brewing, to cupping) while lounging around sipping the freshest coffee in town.

Every day we roast a variety of single-origin coffees, and also provide roasting demonstrations. We also spend a tonne of energy perfecting our steep & filter brewing method, crafting made-to-order cups of rich single-origin brews daily in our cafe.

Stop by for a cup and linger with a book, or arrange a meeting around a fresh litre of coffee served in a simple wine carafe. We are best-known for our bold and flavourful single-origin steep & filter coffees; but we also offer classic espresso-based beverages prepared on a traditional Victoria Arduino espresso machine.

Most importantly, we use fresh-roasted, fresh-ground and fresh-brewed coffee in every single cup we serve, and we invite you to come and discover the true taste of great coffee.
