Mecan River Inn

This is a nice place to stay. Nothing fancy, but it does the job. Prices are also very reasonable. The bar across the road has a pretty good menu if you're looking for food. They make a very good pizza.

Would really liked to have given this place a better review. The room was very clean, exceptional housekeeping. What I first found to be very unusual was that despite having cable TV, only 7 channels are available. Yes, 7. The biggest reason for my poor review was the constant excessive door slamming. I have stayed in dozens upon dozens of motels, some of much lesser room quality than this and still never have experienced this level of noise. The room doors are spring loaded for closing, but have NO dampener/ soft closing mechanisms. Therefore, we were forced to listen to about 40 hard door slams from approximately 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. We tried to dial 0 for the front desk, but no one is on duty there. You'll have to call across the road to the biker bar in order to reach the owner. Interestingly enough, there is a laminated sheet of paper stating "quiet time is from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m... no loud TV's, calling other rooms, slamming of doors, or talking in hallways". It must be a common occurrence. We were able to contact the owner at the bar, and he stated that people were checking in. So, essentially, if people are checking in, you might want to forget about sleeping or peace and quiet for a while.
