Evergreen Campsites & Resort

We've returned from another wonderful visit to Evergreen. What a great laid back, family-friendly place! The kids had so much fun on the sandy beach, riding their bikes around the grounds, playing mini-golf, using the jumping pillow, and swimming in the pool. The adults had equally as much fun relaxing, meeting new friends, and spending time in the new adult pool. Turn off your phone and enjoy a low-key visit during the week or jump in on the fun during the weekends. I'm surprised reading some of the negative reviews-- those have never been our experience and I always hope that those are the type of people that are not camping next to our site. Ha! Staff is friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back.

The campground itself serves as a great place for kids of all ages and provides activities throughout the day to keep everyone active. However, we had an extremely negative encounter with the owner, Jim, that will make us reconsider ever returning to this campground again. We had heard he's extremely confrontational from other campers and witnessed this second hand when he screamed out another campsite during a previous visit then experienced this first hand during our most recent stay. It was truly a turn off and severely lacked professionalism. To set a back drop, we had rented a golf cart for the week of our stay and during a Wednesday night, we took it down our road (which was completely empty at the time of other campers) and a passenger caught a football in the cart 4-5 times. We made sure no one was around and did not by any means endanger anyone. The onsite security personal arrived with the owner Jim. The security guy nicely asked us to stop and we kindly obliged saying, "It's all good we are done for the night." Jim then emerged from his cart, chest puffed out yelling with his hands up, "No, no it's not all good" and started to yell as if we were 5 yr olds being scolded. Another member in our group then reminded him and said we were done (in a nice tone) but Jim literally said, "No, are you going to listen to my spiel, threatened us to call the sheriffs to issue us a disorderly conduct ticket, then put his golf cart in reverse so it made that obnoxious noise while he went and checked on "his" golf cart that we rented from the campground. When I asked if he would mind taking it out of reverse because our kids just went down (2 and 3 that go down at 8), he replied with "no, not while I check on 'my' golf cart." He then had to point out he was the owner, which we knew and didn't even need to be stated since we agreed to halt all activities by saying, "even though I may not be dressed like it, I own this place." Not really expecting a campground owner to roll up in a tux. It was clear he wanted to escalate the issue so he could continue to holler at us, call in for reinforcements, or send us home. We were not obnoxious during any part of our stay, always in bed by 10, and pretty low key minus catching a pass with a football in a golf cart (which we agreed to stop immediately once they arrived). At the end, I again tried to be the bigger person and said, "Have a great night." To which he replied with, "Yup, we will see how it goes" in a very cocky tone. Clearly he likes to walk around flexing his "ownership.” I really wish we would have recorded him going off so others could view just how truly rude he was during this exchange. I do want to point out the gentleman who drives Chippy was fantastic. He would let others in our group know when we were about to board so they were ready with a camera. He would then stop in front of campsites for pictures and slow down for our young ones to dish out fives. He was always friendly while making his nightly rounds as well.

Great place! Huge campgrounds. Rent the golf cart! Or bring your bikes. beach, pools, adult only pool and lots of playgrounds and so on.. cabins are clean and a great alternative to tent camping. Lots of permanent sites as well.

Meticulously well kept up! There are so many amenities that you can't possibly get bored. Super kid friendly as well!!

I was there about a week ago. The campsite itself was a lot of fun. Lots to do. But unfortunately when we were checking out the manager began talking to us in a way that I found completely unacceptable. I left feeling extremely uncomfortable. Don't think I would want to bring my family back there if he was around.
