Mid Aug 2022 weekend. The staff at gate allows Ontario Park Pass in without day use reservation but denied by check in station officer. Come back on weekday but cloudy and thunderstorm follows. Done the online reservation on Pass but at check in, it was a not done deal. Officer does the registration right away. The beach is not huge and there are few day use visitors but the camp site are quite occupied. Breeze before the rain and it is pleasant to me. Less than 15 min, dark cloud gathers above head and thunder roars. Rain is not heavy. But it drives away the people. Still not a decent experience, though.1
Quiet sites with reasonable privacy in the south campground. Great trail circumnavigating the park with the majority along the water. Exterior sites on south campground have direct access to the waterfront trail but can not be seen from the trail. Only one comfort station with showers located in the North campground.
One of the best camping places! RVs, boating, tents, hiking, walking and of course, swimming or just floating around the waters for hours. So many places to explore and if you’re lucky enough to book a site say, on the 150s… you’ll have your own private entrance to the lake!!!!This is one of the best parks, not too big , not noisy, just fun!!
Nice little park with shallow sandy beach, an easy trail near the water and some secluded coves. Very limited shower facility only 1 in the North camp site. South camp site doesn’t have power supply; but each site is surrounded by trees and shrubs, so it is much better in terms of quietness and privacy.
This small peninsula on Lake Simcoe is an ideal summer playground for swimming, boating and fishing. A drumlin on the south side is topped with hardwood forest and drains into swamp and wetlands. Explore the Water’s Edge Trail and discover yellow-throat vireos and rattlesnake fern. Book your campsite early to ensure a spot, or come for a day visit and enjoy the park.
Great camp ground, win some nice beaches, and you get some great sunsets. Not a big park which is nice, and close to Orillia on those rainy days.
Great place for a relaxing camping trip. The beach is a bit rocky but once you pass the rocks the water is awesome. Very family friendly park. Great for folks who want to active. There is a large field for frizzbe or volleyball catch etc. There is a perfect spot to see the sunset. Really magical highly recommend and will be returning!
Pretty bad park. Red ants have taken over the ground and attacked our little dog severely. So be careful. Raccoons are there in numbers and openly approach sites while people are out. Zero fear and will basically take the food off your bbq. Do not leave anything unattended after 6pm. Our camp site was lined with trash. I had to stop a worker and he came back with a bucket and claw arm and removed 2 buckets of trash from around our site. No pre site checks clearly. On our last day the park blew there internal power grid and was hydroless from then on. Unsure of when it returned. Limited bathroom locations. And dud to no hydro they closed the main bathrooms and showers and only left the vaults open which are not friendly nor clean looking. The boat launch was the worst thing I have ever seen. 0 protection from simcoes big waves. No docks to tie to. 2 15ft docks throughout the whole park which are only about in about 1 ft water and can not be fished from you will snag. The pet play area is an over grown forest with a small short trail going through which I was more worried about ticks then letting my dog play. All and all. This park is by far the worst I have ever been too.
Had a great time ! It's a really nice park water was great the beach was well maintained
