McNies Fish & Chips

Came here for the first time on Father’s Day for a bite to eat Around 4PM! The service was incredible and the waitress is super kind and attentive. The food was delicious and got to us quickly! Definitely will be back, so happy to have found a fish and chips place so good near Toronto!

Truly the experience I had expected from a fish and chips joint: fresh halibut and haddock. Our server was a cheerful lady and extremely accommodating of our requirements - a very cozy place a quick and yummy meal. Definitely going back! One small rue: our order bill was a bit of mess and we were overcharged. But I took it back to our server and she refunded the overcharge. But I am still not sure we paid for what we ate since the bill had a different order. Regardless, the food was too good to not go back. Will definitely go back!

Violetta the waitress is funny, fast and very people oriented. Loved the food also! But she made my day. she came to our table to her order she was pleasant checked in with us later on after we received our meal to make sure that the meal was good and to our likings and then gave us a treat during some small talk.

A group of 4 of us wanted some serious comfort food and this casual place did not disappoint. We truly appreciate that they had a grilled fish option vs deep fried battered. So grateful that they had this healthier option available! Massive portions of grilled halibut, great mushy peas my personal fave, deep fried apple slices with vanilla ice cream, a delicious layered chocolate cake makes this place perfect for what we were seeking. Fish was not overly cooked - the perfect level for me! Mushy peas not pictured was the right amount ‘pea’ flavour if that makes sense and texture. I hate to make this review because I really want to support small businesses...but this was horrible. Ordered the halibut family platter and the fish was not cooked, shredded to bits. Fries were also not cooked. $100 meal and couldn't eat really any of it. Called for refund and we were hung up on more than once. I understand sometimes an order doesn't come out perfect, but the customer service is what drove me to make this review. Really sad.

Great decor and Atmosphere. Food was good but not sure it was fresh! Fish was a little dry like it was previously frozen. Not a big fan of the stairs down to the washroom. Wheelchair accessibility: not wheel chair accessible

It's good ol' fashion fish and chips baby; the batter is fantastic and the portion sizes are decent. Great people too, very friendly. Highly recommend the Halibut and Shrimps.
