Walking through University to reach out Mount Royal Park, gave a chance to see Pro-Palestinian camps and old academic facilities including Arts Building, Redpath Museum, Burnside Hall, McLennan Library Building, and McIntyre Medical Sciences Building.nIt is a must for Montreal tourists to see it!
The administration of the operating rooms is simply disgusting. People occupy beds for weeks on end, when we don’t have beds available supposedly, because they can’t find a spot to operate. Millions of dollars, patients on waiting lists, because of the simple lack of organization. Oh my operation is important they tell me; it’s urgent. Weeks of fasting when they know full well they won’t be doing the operation. Then surprise surprise you’re not healthy anymore after weeks of starving.nnPrivate? Not an option in Quebec.nnSimply disgusting. Try informing Revenue Quebec that you will be 24 lates on tax payments; see how they react.nnPathetic.
McGill University, like other public institutions in Quebec, receives a significant portion of its funding from the provincial government. As a taxpayer, I believe that publicly funded spaces should be accessible to the public. The decision by Deep Saini to bar non-students from entering the campus is insulting and nothing but a shallow attempt to convince the public that a lot of work needs to be done after clearing the encampment. In my two decades here, I have never seen the front lawn so pristine. Every spring, the convocation tent stops the grass from growing properly. I sent my kids to summer camps where they played in mud and dirt instead of on grass because McGill never saw it fit to tend to their lawn until someone else stepped on it. I now support the province of Quebec's decision to keep defunding this institution because it's getting ridiculous. While world-class research funding and departmental budgets are being cut, Deep Saini raked in over $550,000 in 2021-2022. Perhaps he would consider taking a pay cut once this university's ranking plummets enough. They are also treating their own students and professors like criminals. However, I wouldn't be complaining so much if these checkpoints were actually effective. The guards are poorly organized and constantly direct students and professors to one another's checkpoints. I have thus chosen to instead simply sneak past them, successfully and on multiple occasions. This is all just for show, and you guys aren't even putting on a good performance. Am I paying also for this garbage security with my taxes? 2/5 stars because you managed to catch me 2 out of 5 times. Best regards Deep, love you like a brother.
Great spectacle! They had two massive teams on either side of the gates waving flags and cheering, never saw anything like it before. Not sure what sport it was for but really gives the impression of a very active school community. A lot to see and I even got a hot dog!
Very cool university! Perfect location. Classic-looking buildings with modern equipment inside. Visited a chemistry lab - nicely organized. Also the book store is good, bought a couple souvenirs. Parking is expensive tho on Rue University.
