I’ve been to almost every shisha place in calgary, and I’ve been coming to mazaj ever since it opened only because it’s close to where I live today, on a table of 2, they added $5 for gratuity. We bought 1 shisha, that the server gave us and never again did we see our server. When asked why this was added they said management says that this is automatically added to every bill and you have to pay it, that is ridiculous. Also I just realized now that at the bottom of the receipt it says gratuity SUGGESTION, however was told it’s has to be paid.
The food was rather good. Prices seem high for absolutely everything inflation bandwagon perhaps. The fries were good and the serving size was good but still disappointing. Perhaps okay if sharing but forced sharing was uncomfortable. Atmosphere, dance club / shisha bar. 2 others there at lunch. It was a bit like a club after close 2:30 am and the lights were on.
It was so horrifying. We went there for a new year party. We actually wasted our money there. Nobody was serving drinks, it was not a safe place to be with your partner. We saw a big fight started between some random people. Do not go there for such party when you are with your partner. Thanks
At first I thought were in the wrong place as first appearance it is very dark when you first come in. It would have been nicer to have a brighter area to have lunch versus in a dark place. The place could use a make over to get closer to the 2020' then the 1990's Food was just ok for a restaurant serving bar food. Portions ok but lots of fries to make up difference. Could use less fries with portions and price accordingly as it seemed expensive for lunch for two. Waiter was ok but didn't offer any more water with meals. The down side is that the plastic covered menues were dirty with spilt drinks and food smudges on them. The other downside is that you don't have a chance to chose the tip option as it is automatically added to the bill @15% eventhough I would have given more or I didn't want to tip there wasn't an option. Would I come back? No we will not come back Parking: Lot of empty parking to chose from
Absolutely love the atmosphere, great quality music system, loud music but just right, the bass is on point, great music selection, sheesha is amazing, love my grape mint, and food... Mix grill.... Amazing.... Fattoush, hummus, everything was was really flavourful and tasty and was really quick, good portions....and the service great too, very welcoming and cheerful.. came here twice already and will be back for sure
I will be posting pictures next time I come here. The owner was welcoming, and I felt respected.. It's is more expensive with extra adds ons to the sheesha. Like extra for coco coals and tea and coffee is over prices. Overall music was only played Indian style dj music.. I will adjust this review as I go. Oh, and they still use the old coals and the holes they used to punch in the tin foil were huge and my sheesha lasted an hour.
One of the best Shisha places I have ever been to, certainly THE BEST in Calgary. I ordered double apple flavor and it lasted me a good 90 minutes. The atmosphere is very hip.They have these disco lights and the color combination of lights in general makes it look super cool. It's hard to describe in words, you need to visit it. Seats are new and comfortable. Service is great, someone would visit your table every 15 mins to ask if everything is good. Clean washrooms. I personally don't drink but they have a bar in the middle, and it's location and they way it's designed makes not just the bar but the whole place look aesthetically pleasing.
Would give zero stars if I could. The Cheese Rolls were frozen in the middle. The owner was rude and horrible when complained and still tried to charge us for the undercooked frozen food. Unsanitary and horrible restaurant. Would never come back.
We went out on the karaoke night, and the host, Deb was just phenomenal, such a chill decent service absolutely loved the environment!! Would definitely recommend visiting there!
The sheesha, food and ambience is indeed a great one. It is more on a pricier side and they add the tip in the bill itself, but starting from customer service to the quality of food is good overall.
