"Immerse yourself in the history of the Royal Canadian Navy at the Naval Museum of Halifax, a Department of National Defense Museum. The Museum fosters an understanding of the rich and dynamic history of the Royal Canadian Navy RCN, with a focus on Atlantic operations. Spanning from the foundation of the RCN in 1910 into its more modern configuration, the Museum strives to inspire curiosity about, and to celebrate, the contributions of those who have served."

A very nice museum that shows off a lot of great Canadian history. I'm from the US and enjoyed the displays and items from many years past. The staff were extremely friendly and willing to answer questions. I had a great time.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
Arrived at 2:15pm on a Friday. It was closed. Advertised open until 4pm. Would have given more stars if we had been able to access the building. The grounds were nice and well taken care of. Commissioners at the front gate were super friendly and helpful.
This is a definitely wonderful place for the Navy Fans. They would get awared of the steps of the Canadian Navy growing in the recent centuries. It's enjoyable for fans to acknowledge the stuff there specifically in the right now winter time. I had a good time hanging out the museum today in the quiet environment. By the way, it might be a fantastic place for the both-fan couples to date there.

Amazing experience. Had the pleasure of investigating Canada's naval history with my Father-in-law, retired from the RCN and formerly stationed at CFB Halifax, Atlantic Fleet. Also had the good fortune of seeing some memorabilia from the HMCS Algonquin, the ship my Grandpa served on during the second world war. Lots to see on 3 floors and very interesting portrayal of Canadian naval history. The building is just as stunning as the displays, a beautiful historical building. I can't wait to return.
Naval Museum of Halifax Great exhibition of Naval Historical content of Canadian Navy. Bottom floor cover the submarine exhibition. The main floor cover genrral over all history. Detailed individual items are highlighted. Great resources and research sections. Staff is exceptional with their knowledge interpretations of the resources in their collections. Friendly staff and extremely helpful.
Wonderful museum, one of Halifax's best hidden discoveries. Located inside the navy base, but open to all, it occupies a wonderful Georgian Mansion right out of a Jane Austen novel. In fact on of her brothers lived here! Jam-packed with great RCN and RN artifacts. Beautiful ship's bell display. Helpful and dedicated staff. You have to through the base gates and show ID to get in, but well worth it.
Director gave us amazing historic facts about the WRENS, and the 1917 explosion just very interesting. I raise a glass of cheer to the volunteers who shared their laughs and political thoughts with us too. Great bunch of people there, THANK YOU!
if you have an interest in navy related history you can easily sink a couple hours of your day in here. three floors worth of stuff to see. however the museum is not handiaccesible
Fascinating glimpse into the Naval History of Halifax, both RN & RCN contained in an original British military building. Hard to find in the Naval base but we'll worth the effort.
