Mariposa Market Store

About

Take a step back in time and enjoy an old fashioned main street shopping experience that includes a quaint café and Orillia's most celebrated bakery.

Story

We're up at 4 am every morning busily handcrafting traditional bakery treats the old fashioned way. We are a full line bakeshop doing all our breads, cookies, pies, cookies & scones in our 103 year old kitchen. In addition to our 8 experienced bakers we have on staff 4 highly talented full time cake decorators and a catering team that specializes in imaginative sandwiches, unique salads and exquisite desserts. Our 120 seat café opens early for muffins and breakfast pastries, and for lunch it's home style soups, quiches and innovative entre items hot out of our oven. You can spend a couple hours browsing through our Scent and Seasons Shops for snuggly nightwear, handmade soaps, cozy candles, cards and home décor discoveries. And it's all housed in a wonderful heritage building complete with cedar lined balconies, a tin tiled ceiling and pleasantly creaky hardwood maple floors so please take a step back in time with us and enjoy an old fashioned shopping experience you'll never forget.

Thought i already reviewed this place... anyway, its fantastic. The design and look of it alone is worth the visit, but also, RIDICULOUSLY impressive looking cake, and awesome doughnuts are here too.nnAnd the fudge / candy shop in the basement if it's open is pretty great too!
My first time going. Just before Christmas. I didn't see a lot of vegan options. My non-vegan friends ordered a lot of goodies to take home. The friendly staff were accommodating and welcoming. Lots of christmas gift options. If you like homemade pickles and chutneys, this is your place! It was a Sunday after before Christmas so the place was incredibly busy.
Been here a few times over the years and I've never seen it not busy. Their baked goods are outstanding: literally anything your sweet tooth desires, generously covered in icing and frosting and all types of delights. Their savoury stuff is also good: heavy on the carbs but still with enough tasty meats and veggies on there to keep you satisfied.nnRecent visit involved trying out a red neck meat roll the hint of whiskey was amazing, roast beef generous amount, tender beef and chicken parmigiana bland and overly doughy. Then capped off the meal with a gopher tail airy bread with smooth creamy filling and apple fritter would have liked more apple but glaze was perfect.nnMariposa is streaming with people at all times, and it's one of those rare markets and bakeries that people treat as a destination rather than a convenient stop.
A very impressive establishment, especially for a small town. The market is full of various kinds of bakery and sweet foods, as well as souvenirs and Orillia themed merch - all of this in a beautiful historical building.nnWe stopped by their coffee shop serving an impressive selection of sweets and sandwiches as well as truly excellent coffee.nnMy soy latter was close to being perfect, it's been quite some time since I enjoyed a cup of coffee this much. Absolutely recommended.
Wow, this is a beautiful bakery shop with lots to see and buy. My husband got the Texas donut and I got the Apple fritter. Unfortunately, they were both so good! We also got iced coffee and espresso. Very good. Enough caffeine to take us home, 1.5 drive. We also purchased strawberry and raspberry jam. Looking forward to trying them soon. The cakes they displayed are a great labour of love. Prices are very reasonable. All the staff were so friendly and ready to serve you. Slots of sitting at the back and upstairs. Looking forward to visiting again.
