Mariposa Market Store

About

Take a step back in time and enjoy an old fashioned main street shopping experience that includes a quaint café and Orillia's most celebrated bakery.

Story

We're up at 4 am every morning busily handcrafting traditional bakery treats the old fashioned way. We are a full line bakeshop doing all our breads, cookies, pies, cookies & scones in our 103 year old kitchen. In addition to our 8 experienced bakers we have on staff 4 highly talented full time cake decorators and a catering team that specializes in imaginative sandwiches, unique salads and exquisite desserts. Our 120 seat café opens early for muffins and breakfast pastries, and for lunch it's home style soups, quiches and innovative entre items hot out of our oven. You can spend a couple hours browsing through our Scent and Seasons Shops for snuggly nightwear, handmade soaps, cozy candles, cards and home décor discoveries. And it's all housed in a wonderful heritage building complete with cedar lined balconies, a tin tiled ceiling and pleasantly creaky hardwood maple floors so please take a step back in time with us and enjoy an old fashioned shopping experience you'll never forget.

Cool market / cafe with lots of tasty food and useful items you can buy for yourself or as a gift for someone.nAwesome atmosphere!nI had the baked ham and cheese sandwich, which I found a bit bland and kind of mushy on the inside a bit, but the other food items were good. Lots of sweets and preserves to choose from.
The 1.5-hour drive was absolutely worth it. This place has something for everyone, from delectable sweets to a wide range of organic meats and cheeses sourced from Ontario farms. The selection of preserves is impressive—so much so that it might make a Mennonite pantry envious. Weekends can get busy, so don’t be in a rush; both locals and visitors flock here. I picked up the mac and cheese, which is undeniably the cheesiest, and a six-pack of large doughnuts. My pancreas is definitely working overtime—talk about a sugar coma! Despite the crowd, the staff are plentiful and keep the lines moving quickly. It’s a must-visit if you’re in the area or even as a destination for a leisurely Sunday drive. You won’t regret it!
2024 September 3.5nOverall a pleasantly appealing place to stop by, eat, and mingle. With two floors of seating, this place serves the typical food that you're looking for:nSoups, wraps, sandwiches, donuts, cakes and sweets. There's also fudge downstairs amongst the merchandise. Frozen foods meat pies, ice cream, etc. up at front.nnDonuts prices vary. Though after 6, there's a buy one get one of equal or lesser value. Skor donut + blueberry fritter was good. ~$5 for 2... What a bargin!nnThey also sell specially jams of unique flavors and ingredients sourced from around the province.nnStreet parking. Certainly a great stop if you're in the area.
The store is located in the city center. Inside, it’s very spacious and has a vintage feel. They sell pastries and food in the central area of the store. The staff is friendly, and the food is reasonably priced. There’s a large area upstairs and on the right side of the store where you can sit down to eat. The upstairs dining area feels quite cozy and has a family-style vibe. They sell sauces, jams, various kinds of preserves, and sweets. It’s pretty crowded. Everything here is clean, and the music is great. Highly recommend it when you visit Orillia.
I ordered 2 customised orange cakes and cupcakes for my kid's first birthday and it came out amazing. The taste, design and everything was perfect. Thank you for making my kid's birthday special. Their service is amazing.nApart from that it's also the best place to have breakfast.
