Really delicious, and lives up to the hype! The eggplant dip and the grilled pitas are so simple but were perfect way to kick off the meal. I wasn’t expecting to be particularly phased by the Spanakopita but it was actually my favourite thing we tried - the honey with the savoury filling and the flakiness of the dough was amazing. The sea bass and the potatoes were also really good.
Food was okay service was not bad but felt rushed out. Overall I would visit again but not sure if it’s worth the money. I would definitely come back for the unique cocktails, dips, and atmosphere but beyond that I’m not sure if I was sold on the other appetizers or mains yet. I would definitely encourage anyone to give this place a try!
Cozy interior, delicious food from salad to main course. Great service and friendly staff but I would say it is pricey. Lamb chops is really great, try fries with feta aioli if you like feta. Salad is also really nice. The air conditioning system could use some help though.
Staff was super friendly, the vibe inside was great, and the food was very tasty. I especially loved the dip with the steaming hot pitas. It was very filling, 3-4 items should be more than enough for 2 people to share. Would come back for sure!
One of the best restaurants I have been in Toronto. The taste it’s authentic, delicious and just fantastic. The eggplant dish melts in your mouth. The feta cheese + tomate entrance was incredible. Friendly staff + good music & ambiance. I really recommend this restaurant.
Was so glad to go to Mamakas- it’s located in a cute neighborhood and the venue is well lit and nicely decorated. We got a dip would have preferred if they offered a sampler dip plate, but they do t, that came with 2 pita breads. Also got a cheese starter that was too greasy, wish we would have ordered the salad with tomatoes and feta instead. Our mains were the rack of lamb delicious!, and octopus would probably order something else next time- was small and not super tasty.
Decent enough food in a very nice atmosphere and good service. Set Menu is decent value but I was expecting to be blown away by the food and I was not. Would still return, but with lowered expectations.
Staff was great so that's why the 2 stars are here. This place is another Posh Fad Toronto place that has a beautiful atmosphere but lacks taste and flavour in the food. Dips that taste like they are from a bucket and lack freshness and seafood that is saucy. To the owners I hope you change up your food as your staff are great and your location is wonderful.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary a few days ago and enjoyed our time. The service was great, and our server was attentive. The spanakopita with a honey drizzle is the best I’ve ever had and a must-have starter. The eggplant dip is rich, smoky, and complemented by the fresh pita. My partner ordered the lamb neck and I the sea bass, which were beautifully done. The restaurant is cozy and without pretence. My minor grievance was that our table felt too close to the party dining beside us. Looking forward to dropping by Mamakas again, especially for the spanakopita.
Positives: the food and atmosphere. Food was nicely cooked and the Greek beer and wine we got were good as well. Negatives: we were surprisingly asked to leave after less than 2 hours including wait time for the food after spending close to $200 including tax and tips per person - talking about 2 guys with a small table - while there were at least 5 available tables around us. Never had this “experience” before :
