We went to this hidden gem August 2022. Wow. I wish we had gone much sooner. The chef is amazing. Friendly and has a great staff. Abundant young staff to attend to you. One of the best meals we have had in a long long time. Located in the small town of Cumberland Ontario. The food is farm to table and most items are locally sourced. There is a menu; and specials menu and off menu items. There is an amazing pizza menu as well. Fresh fresh FRESH. We both went with the lobster risotto and there was no room left for desert. We decided to get desert to go to eat at home. We were so impressed that we have booked the patio for my wife’s Birthday party later this month. You just have to try this place and you will be back for more.
MakerfeedCo. If you haven't treated yourself to dinner at this fabulous farm to table restaurant, book your next outing here. From the beautiful rustic country charm, fantastic hospitality, and gastronomy like no other, you will find yourself going back many times! My recommendation is try something on the menu you wouldn't necessarily find elsewhere - you will be pleasantly surprised! First impressions are so important, and you delivered above and beyond! I give this restaurant a 10/10!
Though quite small, Cumberland has an impressive list of "must see" places to visit, from Cumberland Heritage Village Museum to the Humanics Sculpture Park. After eating at Maker Feed Co, I would add this quirky restaurant to this list. Not only is the decor highly original, but the food is amazing. Dining here gave me the sense of being invited to the home of a brilliant chef! Very happy I came here.
The food was really amazing and very freshly prepared. Our server was very knowledgeable, professional, and attentive. She was happy to answer any questions we had and was social. Although the menu was slightly limited, there seemed to be more food available off the menu than actually listed. We ate indoors and it was incredibly hot with no air flow. It was a cool night outside, so they left the doors open which did not help whatsoever, and let many flies in which were a nuisance during the meal. Some of the seating is unconventional - despite having a reservation I was seated on a couch which left my back hurting for a few days and made the meal very uncomfortable. With the strong heat and the seating, I was unable to finish my meal - I would get takeout from here but I still not return for dine in. Another distraction was that both hostesses were chewing gum with their mouthes open all night, which is not pleasant when they're walking by and you're trying to enjoy your meal.
Maker Feed Co. is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants. It is pricey, but this is completely justified by the quality of the food farm to table!, the originality of the menu, the friendly staff, and the beautiful atmosphere. It is located in the heart of Cumberland in a stunning old stone Victorian house. Highly recommended!
I'm the AGM of a French restaurant in Toronto, in the industry for over 12 years, so I make a tough judge when going out for dinner. But last night was just fantastic!! The Chef has made us very happy, thanks to his background from Lyon he was able to prepare us a delicious Cassoulet, and I'm from Toulouse so I can tell ^^ We tried pretty much every item, Beet and Cesar salads, the onion soup, the Pork chop, the Slamon, the NY Steak special, every single item in the plate was cooked perfectly! Service was also efficient, our server Riley I believe was very kind. The wine list is short but just enough for everyone's taste. Generous portions for a great value. " Chapeau" to this great team!
My husband and I finally made it out to Maker Feed this past weekend- what a treat! The food was creatively conceived, delicious, and generously proportioned if somewhat ridiculous- see pic, the atmosphere was lovely and interesting, the service was splendid, and the staff genuinely seemed to enjoy working there, which is an accomplishment unto itself. There are so many things that I love about this restaurant!! We will definitely be back.
Brunch was incredibly delicious on Sunday! I ordered the Duck Benny with potatoes. Presentation was well done, and the $2 Mimosas were a nice addition. Absolutely recommend this place; hats off to chef and owner Michel for knocking this place out of the park
We had dinner here last night and it was phenomenal! We were a party of six and were seated at a lovely, cozy table in the front. From the moment we arrived the staff were warm and welcoming. Our server, Alex, was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu and ingredients was incredible and his patience and sense of humour completely the experience. We can't wait to go back for brunch and summer evenings on the patio. If you are looking for a fantastic meal in a unique space with outstanding service, look no further!!!!!
Such a gem in Cumberland! Have gone for dinner a few times now and it does not disappoint. They try to make everything in house and using local ingredients where possible which is really nice. They have feature steaks which are always delicious. If you go in summer they have three separate patios, we love the wrap-around patio which is stunning. Service isn’t too quick but we prefer it this way, a slower evening where you can enjoy every step, we don’t want to feel rushed so this is nice. We’ve also been to brunch a handful of times and that is also so yummy. Haven’t yet tried the buffet brunch yet but judging from the photos I’m sure it’s just as good. Will continue to go and would recommend to others! Really nice having an upscale restaurant so close to home without having to go downtown or travel too far. My brother also says their pizzas are really good.
